Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, people pay others to do tasks because they do not have enough time for cleaning, cooking or playing with their children. I believe this can be a positive way of creating employment. But people should still take responsibility of household duties.

First of all, hiring someone for household tasks can valuable employment opportunities. Many people depends on this kind of jobs, such as gardening, cleaning, security, cooking and childcare services. This jobs may easily access to get a job, who do not need a high education qualification. For example, childcare home service. In a modern era both have to do a work for financial support and child’s future. Mother do not have a time to look a child for a whole day, so they can give a job for certain hour in a day.

Moreover, it is advantages for those people who choose to more focus on household responsibilities. Modern lifestyle is extremely busy, specially for people who work long hours for demanding careers. Paying someone for house-work and look after children can give people more rest and flexibility for work without any guilt. Furthermore, professional workers may sometimes perform these tasks more conveniently because they have experience and skills.

However, I do not agree that people should pay for all kind of household works. Doing your family responsibility can encourage independence and your important skills. Parents should participate activities for raising their children rather than relying on someone.

In conclusion, paying others for household work is appropriate way to create employment and can make our life more convenient. But people have to do their own responsibilities.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the impact on employment and the personal responsibility of household tasks. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding employment is supported by a list of jobs, but the explanation of why this is a 'good' way to provide work remains superficial. Similarly, the section on personal responsibility is brief and lacks depth. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points with more detailed reasoning or specific, illustrative examples rather than just stating your opinion. The response covers all requirements but lacks the depth of analysis expected at higher levels.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use some cohesive devices such as 'First of all', 'Moreover', 'However', and 'In conclusion' to signal the progression of your argument. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the flow between sentences is slightly disjointed, such as in the second paragraph where the transition between the benefits of hiring and the example of childcare is abrupt. Referencing is generally clear, but the overall structure could be improved by ensuring that each sentence within a paragraph flows more naturally into the next.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, including terms like 'financial support', 'flexibility', and 'responsibilities'. However, there are several errors in word choice and collocation that occasionally hinder precision, such as 'can valuable employment opportunities' (should be 'can create valuable...') and 'this jobs may easily access to get a job' (which is redundant and grammatically awkward). You attempt to use some less common vocabulary, but the lack of precision in these attempts prevents a higher score. Focusing on accurate collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing would significantly improve your lexical score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('Many people depends', 'Mother do not have'), missing articles ('do a work'), and incorrect verb forms ('look after children' vs 'looking after'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable. To improve, you should focus on basic subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles and prepositions. Increasing the variety of complex structures while ensuring they are error-free will help you move toward a higher band.
