Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, many people often prefer to hire someone who can do household chores because they don't have time such as, looking after children. It is obvious to help someone who is dire need of work, while some people prefer to do things by themselves.

To begin with, many working women may face several difficulties in terms of managing things along with performing jobs. For example, a female doctor cannot look after her children because of busy schedule and on call duties. Additionally. when she will be back at home, needs rest to relax their mind as it is quite hard for them to manage multiple stuff all at once. As a result, it is a viable option to employ someone at home, and this step significantly reduces the burden on healthcare working females.

On the other hand, some people like to do household work by their own, it may be because of trust issues or they like their own work more compared to others. For instance, many female teachers often have morning jobs and their timetable is decided for them, then after arriving at home they love to cook and serve their families through their own hands. As this passion does not let anyone to interfere in their duties, they indulge themselves in household chores. Moreover, children most of the time needs their parents attention specifically mothers. Therefore, this is the substantial way to keep them close and also educate children in a very young age.

In conclusion, while lessening the burden on female doctor would be a better approach because a single human cannot handle things simultaneously. Whereas, some women are fond of doing household duties, and educating children about these stuff is a considerable approach.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the benefits of providing work for others and the personal preference for doing tasks oneself. However, the development is somewhat limited. The arguments regarding working women are relevant, but the essay relies heavily on specific examples (doctors/teachers) rather than exploring the broader societal implications of outsourcing labor. The conclusion is slightly repetitive and does not fully synthesize the two sides of the argument. To improve, ensure that each paragraph provides a more balanced analysis of the prompt's two questions, rather than focusing primarily on the perspective of working mothers.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. Cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader. However, there are some issues with referencing and flow; for example, the phrase 'this step' in the first body paragraph is slightly vague, and the transition between the two main ideas in the conclusion is a bit abrupt. The use of punctuation, particularly the full stop after 'Additionally', disrupts the flow of the sentence. Improving the variety of linking words would enhance the overall cohesion.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the student to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'viable option' and 'substantial way', though the latter is used slightly inaccurately in context. Some phrasing is repetitive, such as 'household chores' and 'household work'. There are also minor errors in word choice, such as 'educate children in a very young age' (should be 'at') and 'these stuff' (which is informal and grammatically incorrect). Expanding the range of synonyms and collocations would help reach a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Examples include 'when she will be back at home, needs rest' (missing subject 'she'), 'children most of the time needs' (subject-verb agreement error), and 'this passion does not let anyone to interfere' (incorrect verb pattern). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with sentence fragments and comma splices. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed with correct verb patterns.
