Student answer (Band 6.5)

Undoubtedly, workload stress among people has been burgeoning these days. Some people believe hiring someone as a house help or childcare nanny is a better option to manage time and to get things done effectively. I strongly opine that generating such employment opportunities is worth for individual as well as society, however I also believe that people should involve themselves in doing household chores.

The primary reason for this is managing time and alleviating stress. To explain, majority working people these days do not have enough time to manage house and taking care of their children at the same time. Although, hiring a house help will not only assist them in managing their household chores but also, they would have more time to focus on their professional lives. Another striking reason for this is due to lack of education among people they do not get high end jobs but still want to earn good money to manage their expenses. Hence, such opportunities not only give them job but also regulates economy by alleviating unemployment.

Despite that, people should not depend fully on house helps to perform every small task for them. To elaborate, in case of shortage or absence of house help most people become lethargic and gets frustrated while doing even basic tasks. For example, many people gets stressed if their house help asks for a leave or quits job as they develop a fear to manage basic responsibilities of their houses in result they become habitual of depending on someone. Also, parents should give enough time to their children so that they can feel that unconditional love and educate their child some core values and ethics which parents usually forgets as they completely focus on their careers and leaving their children with nannies. Therefore, people should have ability to manage their house chores in times when they do not have anyone around them.

To conclude, no doubt hiring someone will not only helps people to manage their personal and professional life but also assist economy to reduce unemployment rates, however depending completely on house help should be avoided as well.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the benefits of providing employment and the necessity of personal involvement in household tasks. The position is clear throughout, and ideas are extended with relevant examples, such as the impact on the economy and the importance of parental bonding. However, the development is slightly uneven; the argument regarding the 'lack of education' among workers is a bit tangential to the core question of whether it is a 'good way' of providing work. Overall, the response is well-focused and meets the requirements of the task effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central theme, and the progression of ideas is generally smooth. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'The primary reason for this', 'Despite that', and 'To conclude', which help guide the reader. However, there are some instances where the flow is slightly mechanical, and some referencing is a bit repetitive. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different aspects of the argument, contributing to the overall coherence of the piece.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, including terms like 'burgeoning', 'alleviating', and 'unconditional love'. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'regulates economy' (should be 'stimulates the economy') and 'educate their child some core values' (should be 'instill core values'). While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey meaning clearly, it lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher band score. The errors do not impede communication, but they do highlight a need for more nuanced word usage.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the student attempts complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'many people gets stressed', 'it not only helps') and article usage. Some sentences are slightly awkward, such as 'in result they become habitual of depending on someone'. Despite these errors, the meaning is generally clear, and the punctuation is mostly accurate. The student shows a good attempt at complex structures, but the frequency of minor errors prevents a higher score.
