It is sometimes possible to pay somebody to do things you don't want to do, or don't have time to do, for example, household chores or looking after children.

Should people do these things themselves?

Student answer (Band 6.0)

Sometimes people pay others to take care of personal chores such as house cleaning and babysitting. In my opinion, it is a great way to provide employment to others, if one can afford these services. If anyone is looking for a job, they should do these kind of works as no work is big or small.

Nowadays, a lot of people are busy with their corporate jobs. They do not have enough time to take care of their children and house. If they can delegate this kind works to someone who is good at it, it can provide great opportunities to needy one. For example, a university student, will happily look after a kid, as they can complete their homework while the kid is playing. Moreover, not everyone has degrees and required skillsets to work in corporate jobs. They can still earn their living by doing these kind of work.

However, many believe that these kind of works will not look good in the society. But I believe that one should look at the kind of work and money they will get paid before taking a job. If they think they will enjoy the work and is getting enough money, they should do it. No work is smaller than others. People should look at their needs instead of what society will think.

In conclusion, although some people hesitate to take a low skill job due to society pressure, I believe they should look at their needs and the kind of work they can do. No one should be judged based on their chosen profession.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the benefits of providing employment and the question of whether people should perform these tasks themselves. However, the development is somewhat limited. While you argue that delegating chores provides opportunities for those without corporate skills, the second part of the prompt—whether people should do these things themselves—is addressed primarily through the lens of social stigma rather than the personal benefits of self-reliance, such as family bonding or financial savings. To reach a higher band, ensure that both sides of the argument are explored with equal depth and specific, balanced reasoning.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central focus. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Nowadays', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion' to guide the reader. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel repetitive, particularly the phrase 'these kind of works'. To improve, try to vary your linking words and ensure that pronouns or synonyms are used more effectively to refer back to previously mentioned concepts, which will help the text feel more cohesive and less like a list of points.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully using terms like 'corporate jobs', 'delegate', and 'profession'. However, there is a recurring issue with collocation and grammatical number agreement, such as 'these kind of works' (should be 'this kind of work') and 'needy one' (should be 'needy people'). The vocabulary is generally functional but lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. Expanding your repertoire to include more precise collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing will significantly enhance your lexical score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this level. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'a university student, will happily' (unnecessary comma) and 'is getting enough money' (subject-verb agreement error, as 'they' is the subject). While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on subject-verb agreement and punctuation rules, particularly regarding comma usage, to ensure your writing is more polished and accurate.
