Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you attempt to address both parts of the prompt, the arguments are underdeveloped and lack depth. For instance, the discussion on childcare is brief and relies on a generalization that paid caretakers do not provide proper care, which lacks nuance. To improve, you must expand your points with more detailed explanations and specific examples to ensure the response is fully developed. Currently, the position is somewhat unclear due to the brevity and limited exploration of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the flow of ideas is often disjointed. While you use some cohesive devices like 'On the one hand' and 'In conclusion', the transitions between sentences are sometimes abrupt or illogical. For example, the shift from discussing household chores to the quality of food is not clearly linked. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow your line of reasoning. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear, central topic sentence would greatly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is limited and repetitive, which restricts your ability to express complex ideas. There are several instances of awkward word choices and spelling errors, such as 'hosuehold', 'nutricious', 'maintaince', and 'unnessary'. You rely on basic vocabulary, and there is little evidence of less common lexical items or precise collocations. To reach a higher band, you should focus on expanding your vocabulary related to work, lifestyle, and social responsibilities, and pay closer attention to the correct spelling and usage of these words in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with sentence structure, such as 'while many people prefer that helping others even they are busy', and problems with subject-verb agreement and article usage. You rely mostly on simple sentence structures, and attempts at more complex sentences often result in errors. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of full stops and capitalization. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like missing verbs or incorrect word forms.
