Student answer (Band 7.0)
Nowadays, many people have busy lifestyles, so they often pay others to do tasks such as cleaning, cooking, gardening or looking after children. I think this can be a good way to provide work for others, but people should still do some basic responsibilities themselves when possible.
On the one hand, paying someone to do household work can create useful job opportunities. Many people earn money by working as cleaners, babysitters, cooks, drivers, and many more. This type of work is helpful for individuals who may not have high qualifications but still want to support their families. For example, in many cities, domestic workers and childcare workers depend on these jobs for their income. If families pay them fairly and give respect, this can be a positive arrangement for both sides.
Another benefit is that hiring helpers save time. Many people work long hours or study full-time, so they may not have enough time to manage everything at home. In this situation, paying someone for help can reduce stress and allow people to focus on their job, studies or family life. For instance, parents who are vey busy may need a babysitter so they can work without worrying about their children.
However, I also believe people should not depend on others for everything. Some tasks, such as basic cleaning, cooking simple meals, or spending time with children, are personal responsibilities. If people always pay others to do these things, they may become lazy or loose important life skills. Also, children need emotional care from their parents, not only from paid workers.
In conclusion, paying people to do household chores or childcare can provide employment and save time, so it is useful in modern life. However, people should balance this by doing some tasks themselves, especially responsibilites connected to family and personal care.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, providing a clear position on both whether it is a good way to provide work and whether people should perform tasks themselves. The ideas are relevant and logically developed. For instance, the argument regarding job creation for those with lower qualifications is well-supported by examples like domestic and childcare workers. The second part of the prompt is also addressed with a balanced view on personal responsibility and the importance of emotional care. The position is consistent throughout the essay, and the conclusion effectively synthesizes the main points. To reach a higher band, the student could further extend the discussion on the societal implications of outsourcing domestic labor.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central theme, such as job creation, time management, and personal responsibility. Cohesive devices are used effectively, such as 'On the one hand', 'Another benefit', and 'However', which help guide the reader through the argument. The progression of ideas is smooth and easy to follow. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct points. The referencing is generally clear, though some transitions could be slightly more sophisticated to enhance the flow between sentences.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is sufficient for the task and allows for some precision. The student uses relevant topic-specific vocabulary such as 'domestic workers', 'childcare', 'responsibilities', and 'emotional care'. There are a few minor errors, such as 'loose' instead of 'lose' and 'vey' instead of 'very', which are likely slips rather than a lack of knowledge. The range is adequate to convey ideas clearly, but the essay would benefit from a wider variety of less common lexical items and more idiomatic collocations to move into the higher band range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.0
The essay demonstrates a good mix of simple and complex sentence structures. Most sentences are error-free, and the meaning is always clear. There is good control over punctuation and basic grammar. However, there are occasional minor errors, such as 'hiring helpers save time' (should be 'saves') and 'responsibilites' (spelling error). While the student uses complex structures, they are generally straightforward. To achieve a higher score, the student should aim for a greater variety of complex grammatical forms and ensure that subject-verb agreement is consistently accurate throughout the text.
