Student answer (Band 6.0)

In contemporary society, people are extremely busy with their jobs and personal lives. As a result, many people hiring someone for their work such as cleaning, household chore and looking after their children. I believe it is positive development in terms of generating employment, although individual should do at least some work themselves.

One of the major advantages for paying someone to do household tasks that it gives job opportunity to those who need a source of income. For instance, babysitters, cleaners and gardeners. It helps those individuals who have fewer educational qualifications and may find difficult to get another type of employment. Additionally, hiring someone can save a considerable amount of time. People who work long hours can utilize this extra time in study, relaxing or spend time with their families instead of doing household work themselves.

However, I do not think that a person should be completely depend on another person for their children and other household chores. Parents can spend their extra time with their children, which help to develop strong relationship between them. A babysitter can look after a child, when parents are busy with other work, but they should not leave all childcare responsibilities to another person. Similarly, family member can teach their children about social values and cooperation, whenever they have enough time.

In conclusion, hiring someone for household duties is a good way of creating employment and helping busy people manage their time. Nevertheless people should not overlooked their own responsibilities completely, especially whenever it come to raising their children and maintaining family relationships.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

You have addressed both parts of the prompt: the benefits of providing work for others and the personal responsibility of individuals. Your position is clear from the introduction and maintained throughout the essay. The ideas are relevant, such as the economic benefit for those with fewer qualifications and the importance of parental involvement in child-rearing. However, the development of these points is somewhat basic. To reach a higher band, you should aim to expand on your examples with more depth or nuance. For instance, you could discuss the societal impact of outsourcing chores beyond just individual time management. Overall, the response is well-focused and directly answers the prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use cohesive devices such as 'In addition,' 'However,' and 'In conclusion' to guide the reader through your arguments. While the progression is generally clear, some transitions feel slightly mechanical. For example, the link between the first and second body paragraph could be smoother. Additionally, there are minor issues with referencing and sentence-level cohesion, such as the phrase 'whenever it come to' which lacks a clear antecedent. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas, which helps the overall readability of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'contemporary society,' 'employment,' and 'responsibilities' correctly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, but these are occasionally used with minor inaccuracies or awkward collocations, such as 'positive development in terms of generating employment' (which is slightly wordy) or 'completely depend on' (should be 'dependent'). Spelling is generally accurate, but there are some grammatical errors in word form that affect the precision of your expression. To improve, focus on using more sophisticated collocations and ensuring word forms are used correctly in context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this level. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('many people hiring' instead of 'many people hire'; 'individual should do' instead of 'individuals should do'; 'whenever it come to' instead of 'comes to') and missing articles or incorrect verb forms ('the major advantages for paying' instead of 'of paying'). While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and article usage would significantly improve your accuracy.
