IELTS Writing Task 2 question
It is sometimes possible to pay somebody to do things you don't want to do, or don't have time to do, for example, household chores or looking after children.
Is this a good way of providing work for others?
Should people do these things themselves?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
In recent times, there is a sudden increase in the jobs where people pay other individuals to do the chores they either don't have the time to do or simply some task they do not wish to do it themselves. I believe this is largely a negative development.
In my opinion, this way of providing work is not the best route for others who actually do the work. Not only the work available through this way is seasonal most of the times but also a competitive market for those who really need an easy work. Additionally, the work provided is not supervised or registered with government bodies which might lead to exploitation of people who do these tasks.
Furthermore, having the privilege to pay someone to do the task one does not wanna do might seem like an easy solution but in reality it might be making people dependent and couch potato's. For example, nowadays a large population pay small seasonal businesses or individuals to do basic tasks such as cutting the grass from the lawn, household chores, installing packed furniture and even looking for children. All these mentioned activities were once considered as a time people could spend with their families which helped building family bonds and realationships. Since, people can just pay someone to do these tasks for them, all these moments went away from them.
In conclusion, people should be more proactive to do their own tasks rather than depending on others. This way people can save some money which they can use for some good as well as can spend time with themselves or their families.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed both parts of the prompt, providing a clear position that outsourcing chores is a negative development. You discuss the impact on workers and the personal consequences for families. However, the development of your ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding the exploitation of workers is mentioned but not fully explored with specific examples. Similarly, while you mention the loss of family bonding, the explanation could be more nuanced. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is supported by more detailed reasoning or concrete illustrations to fully flesh out your arguments.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
Your essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'In my opinion,' 'Furthermore,' and 'In conclusion' to guide the reader. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the use of referencing is occasionally imprecise, such as in the phrase 'all these moments went away from them.' Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. To improve, try to use a wider range of cohesive devices and ensure that the transition between sentences is smoother and more natural.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'seasonal businesses' and 'proactive.' However, there are some informal choices, such as 'wanna' and 'couch potato's' (which also contains a punctuation error). Additionally, some word choices are slightly unnatural, such as 'easy work' instead of 'unskilled labor' or 'low-skilled work.' To achieve a higher score, focus on using more academic vocabulary and avoiding colloquialisms or contractions.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'there is a sudden increase in the jobs' (should be 'an increase in jobs'), 'not only the work available... is seasonal... but also a competitive market' (faulty parallel structure), and 'helped building' (should be 'helped to build' or 'helped build'). Punctuation errors, such as the unnecessary apostrophe in 'potato's,' also occur. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of infinitive versus gerund forms.
