Student answer (Band 7.0)
It is undeniable that an increasing number of people are hiring others to perform their personal tasks due to lack of time or interest. While it helps in creating job opportunities for needy people, I believe that individuals should not be reliant on others as it leads to a sedentary lifestyle and a wider gap in society.
Although there are many advantages of recruiting house-helpers, the major one is providing employment to individuals who cannot secure other jobs in community. As it is not possible for everyone to find skilled jobs, those disadvantaged people can increase their disposable income by doing work in other households. For example, less educated people can easily generate income by doing cleaning work for society members who are unwilling to do it. Another important benefit would be gaining hands-on experience for highly-paid jobs. For instance, doing baby-sitting jobs is an effective way of gaining practical experience which is helpful in securing jobs related to early childhood education. Ultimately, it contributes to reduce unemployment in the society in the long-run.
On the other side, being dependent on other people for the personal tasks makes individuals lethargic and deteriorates the quality of living. Despite the fact that employing helpers makes people's life convenient and comfortable, it makes them incapable of handling multiple responsibilities. However, when individuals handle their household responsibilities alongwith their professional commitments, they learn to maintain work-life balance and time management. In addition, while working for others, some low-income groups may feel inferior and it reinforce the social inequalities. Sometimes affluent households humiliate their servants due to the errors in work. As a result, the general public starts considering these jobs as low-class which increases the gap in society.
In conclusion, even though paying somebody to do monotonous housing works is an effective way of tackling the problem of lack of jobs, its drawbacks are far more because it promotes unncessary reliance on others and societal discrimination.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have addressed both parts of the prompt clearly, maintaining a consistent position throughout the essay. Your arguments regarding job creation and the potential for social inequality are relevant and well-supported. The ideas are extended logically, such as the point about baby-sitting providing practical experience for future careers. To reach a higher band, ensure that your conclusion does not introduce new ideas or overly simplify the complexity of the arguments. Your response is well-structured and directly answers the prompt's questions, demonstrating a clear understanding of the task requirements.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear progression of ideas. Each paragraph has a central theme, and you use cohesive devices such as 'Although', 'For instance', and 'In addition' to link your points effectively. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the referencing could be more fluid. For example, the transition 'On the other side' is a bit clunky; 'Conversely' or 'On the other hand' would be more natural. Overall, the paragraphing is appropriate, and the logical flow is maintained throughout the response, making it easy for the reader to follow your argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to discuss the topic with some precision. Phrases like 'disposable income', 'professional commitments', and 'societal discrimination' are used effectively. There are some minor issues with collocation and word choice, such as 'monotonous housing works' (should be 'household chores') and 'society members' (should be 'members of society'). While you attempt to use less common vocabulary, some choices are slightly unnatural. Improving your awareness of collocations will help you achieve a higher score in this criterion.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. There are several error-free sentences, and your control of grammar is generally good. However, there are some persistent minor errors, such as 'contributes to reduce' (should be 'contributes to reducing') and 'it reinforce' (should be 'it reinforces'). Additionally, there are occasional missing articles, such as 'in community' (should be 'in the community'). These errors do not impede communication, but they prevent the essay from reaching the higher bands where the majority of sentences must be error-free.
