Student answer (Band 6.0)

Due to busy work schedule, sometimes people prefer to have a maid to do household chores. And some people keep caretaker to look after their children. I believe it is a good development since, many people can get employment. However, it is necessary for people to do some part of their activity by themselves only.

To commence with, keeping a maid or nanny is a good way of providing work employment. Many people are busy and they need someone to do their household chores so that the work load of working people get reduced. As a result, many unemployed people can get work opportunity. For instance, research in Dubai states that there are many employment opportunity for maid and nanny because of busy work schedule of working parents.

On the other hand, it is necessary for people to do their some work by themselves such as taking care of their children. Parenting is very essential for kids for their better future and parents should make sure that they do this by themselves only. If person relies completely on nanny to look after the kids then it can be dangerous because people cannot rely completely on stranger to teach best to the kids. As a result, kids sometimes become out of control of their parents which is not a good thing.

To conclude, it is a good way since, it provides financial support and create numerous work opportunity for unemployed. Although, parents should look after their children by own since it is their responsibility to raise them well with good manners.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the benefits of providing employment and the necessity of personal involvement in tasks like childcare. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention that hiring help reduces workload and provides employment, the explanation could be more nuanced. Similarly, the argument regarding childcare is valid but relies on general assertions rather than deeper analysis. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is supported by more detailed reasoning or specific, well-integrated examples rather than brief mentions. Overall, the task is addressed adequately, but the depth of exploration is consistent with a mid-range performance.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'On the other hand', and 'To conclude' to signal transitions between ideas. However, the flow within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical, and the use of referencing is occasionally repetitive (e.g., repeating 'people' and 'kids'). To improve, try to use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that pronouns or synonyms are used to connect sentences more fluidly. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the progression of ideas is easy to follow, which supports a coherent structure.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'household chores', 'employment opportunity', and 'financial support'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are instances of slightly unnatural phrasing, such as 'do their some work' or 'do this by themselves only'. To achieve a higher score, aim to incorporate more precise collocations and less common lexical items. For example, instead of repeating 'good way', try using more descriptive adjectives or nouns that reflect the context of the argument.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are frequent minor grammatical errors, such as missing articles ('a maid', 'the work load'), incorrect pluralization ('work opportunity' instead of 'work opportunities'), and awkward phrasing ('do their some work'). Complex sentences are attempted, but they often contain small errors in word order or preposition usage. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles. Increasing the accuracy of your complex structures will help you move into a higher band, as your current control is sufficient for communication but lacks the precision required for higher levels.
