Is this a good way of providing work for others?

Should people do these things themselves?

Student answer (Band 6.0)

In this fast and digital world, every person is busy in work and they do not have time to do things like household chores or looking after children. I believe this depends on how we look into this situation.

Parents are busy working in offices to provide good food and education for their children for their bright future. They hire people to provide household chores like cooking food, cleaning their house and looking after children. This might help parents to focus on their work and its a good way of providing work for others as well.

But on the other hand, parents are missing the family time like spending time with their daily, preparing food along with them, going out with them in park to play. Parents do get vacation from their work-life, but they should also know the work-life balance and spend time with their near and dear ones.

Parents should hire people for providing work for certain time only. During festivals and events, people should do these things themselves so that they can spend time with their children and they can watch their parents how they help each other since the people who are hired also have family and festivals are meant to enjoy by everyone.

I believe this paying someone to do household chores and looking after children should be seldomly because this can affect children in negative way if they see regularly. Parents are the first teachers of their children and not parent want their children to learn wrong and negative things.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the economic benefit of providing work and the personal responsibility of performing chores. However, the development is somewhat limited. While you mention that hiring help allows parents to focus on their careers, the argument regarding whether people 'should' do these things themselves is underdeveloped. The conclusion introduces a new idea about children learning negative things, which is not fully explored. To reach a higher band, ensure that each main point is supported by a clear, logical explanation or a specific example rather than just stating the opinion. The position is generally clear, but the depth of analysis needs to be more consistent throughout the essay.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a central theme. There is a clear progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and limited. For instance, the transition between the benefits of hiring help and the drawbacks could be smoother with more sophisticated linking words. Additionally, some referencing is slightly unclear, such as in the final paragraph where the connection between 'seldomly' and the impact on children could be better articulated. Improving the variety of transition signals would enhance the flow of the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on basic phrasing such as 'good food', 'bright future', and 'negative things'. There are also some awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'providing household chores' (chores are performed, not provided) and 'seldomly' (which is not standard usage; 'infrequently' or 'rarely' would be better). To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to work-life balance, domestic responsibilities, and socioeconomic impacts, and focus on using words in their correct grammatical context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'every person is busy in work' (should be 'at work'), 'its a good way' (missing apostrophe in 'it's'), and 'not parent want' (should be 'no parent wants'). There are also issues with article usage and prepositional phrases. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your point, they indicate a need for more careful proofreading and a better grasp of subject-verb agreement and sentence construction.
