Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the benefits of providing work for others and the consideration of whether people should perform these tasks themselves. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding 'job demands' is mentioned but not fully explored in terms of the broader economic impact. The conclusion provides a balanced summary, but the ideas could be extended with more specific examples or deeper analysis to reach a higher band. The response is relevant and stays on topic throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central theme. Cohesive devices such as 'First of all', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader. However, there is some mechanical use of these devices, and the flow between sentences is occasionally disjointed. For example, the transition between the benefits of hiring help and the financial risks in the third paragraph is a bit abrupt. Referencing is generally clear, but the overall progression of ideas could be smoother with more varied linking words.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to express ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'mandatary' (spelled incorrectly as 'mandatary' instead of 'mandatory') and 'financial struggle'. However, there are frequent errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'employement', 'husehold', 'orher', and 'indiviuals'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the range and precision of the language used. A more varied and accurate vocabulary would be required for a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('a work', 'a parents'), subject-verb agreement ('nature of employement cause', 'many time person is paying'), and verb forms ('he wouldn't able to do'). While these errors are noticeable and occur throughout the text, they rarely prevent the reader from understanding the intended meaning. To improve, the student should focus on basic grammatical accuracy, particularly with pluralization and article usage.
