Student answer (Band 5.5)

In this modern era, most of the people want to try different things. It is sometimes possible to pay somebody to do things you don’t want to do or don’t have time to do for instance household works or looking after teenagers. In my opinion, this is a good way to help someone. There is a few reasons which I mentioned in the following paragraphs.

First and the foremost reason is decrease someone’s stress who is doing full time job. Nowadays, most of the parents doing full time jobs because of handling daily expenses of their own or their children’s. So they don’t have enough time to do household chores if we help than their stress of household work or other work will be decreased. Moreover, sometimes teenagers indulge in bad companies or in illegal activities if no one care without parents. So, if someone help to take care of their children than they do not confront these kind of problems.

Some people think it is not good to do help to someone in household chores or child care because in this way people become lazy and totally dependent on someone for their work.

In conclusion, although people become lazy or totally dependent on others if someone help in their work but it has enormous benefits like reduce stress and many more.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, but the development is insufficient. The essay is significantly under the 250-word minimum, which limits the depth of the arguments. While you mention stress reduction and child safety, these points are not fully extended or supported with specific examples. The conclusion is brief and does not add new insight. To improve, you must expand on your ideas by providing concrete examples or personal experiences to meet the length requirement and demonstrate a more thorough exploration of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive start. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive (e.g., 'First and the foremost reason', 'Moreover', 'In conclusion'). The logical progression between sentences is occasionally hindered by grammatical errors, making some transitions feel abrupt. To reach a higher band, you should use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that flows naturally into the supporting details.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for basic communication but lacks the range and precision required for a higher score. You rely on simple phrasing such as 'do help' and 'do household works'. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'indulge in bad companies'. To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'outsourcing', 'domestic responsibilities', or 'mitigate stress', and ensure you use words in their correct context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'There is a few reasons', 'most of the parents doing full time jobs', and 'if no one care without parents'. The sentence structures are mostly simple, with limited attempts at complex sentences. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct verb tense usage, and the proper construction of conditional sentences. Increasing the variety of your sentence structures will also help demonstrate better grammatical control.
