IELTS Writing Task 2 question

It is sometimes possible to pay somebody to do things you don't want to do, or don't have time to do, for example, household chores or looking after children.

Is this a good way of providing work for others?

Should people do these things themselves?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, living in a fast paced and advanced world, many cannot spare time to do extra household work on a daily basis . This why there are a number of startups which provide paid house cleaning services to individuals busy with work. I feel to some extinct people should start taking responsibilities and dedicate some time at home as well.

To begin with, doing house chores with your family develops a deeper bond and connection. Many mordren families lack an important thing called communication. Everyone today has made themselves so busy that no one has time to talk or sit with eachother, doing household jobs like cleaning the house, arranging furniture or even going to the store for groceries increases the bond and communication between the family members. For instance my friend who worked a coorporate job and had no time for the wife. This created a drift in the relationship leading to fights between the couple. His wife then asked him to help her out with dishes over the weekend while she cooked the meals, this change in routine had a postive impact on their relationship, and now they both like to spend more time with eachother than earlier. Secondly, paid day care services for kids is not a good way of upbringing. Kids are innocent souls and they pick up things they see around them very quickly. Spending more time with kids will not only help in their good upbringing, but they will also be more attached and loving towards their parents.

Furthermore, paid services on a occasional basis is not a bad idea. Some type of cleaning in the house requires professional tools and experienced hand, For example I had a stain on my carpet flooring which was impossible for me to clean without a professional help.

To conclude, every person should try to do smalls house chores independently, this not only increases the bond between families but also adds discipline in our lives. Any kind of paid service, like day care and professional cleaning should only be used in extreme situations where there is a need of a professional.
