Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to address both parts of the prompt: whether paid help provides work for others and whether people should do these tasks themselves. However, the development of ideas is limited and hindered by repetitive phrasing and disjointed thoughts. For example, the writer touches upon the benefits of hiring a babysitter and the personal health benefits of doing household chores, but these arguments are underdeveloped and lack clear examples. The position of the writer is somewhat obscured by convoluted meta-language at the beginning, such as 'the following paragraph would highlight my perspective which will lead to a logical conclusion'. Overall, the response meets the criteria for Band 5, as it addresses the task partially with limited idea development.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The response suffers from severe issues regarding paragraphing and logical progression. The entire essay is written as one single, massive run-on sentence without proper sentence boundaries, full stops, or logical paragraph divisions. For instance, the text strings together multiple clauses with commas instead of periods, starting from 'In the contemporary epoch...' all the way to the end. Cohesive devices are either missing, inadequate, or repetitive, relying heavily on overused conjunctions like 'and' and 'because'. There is no clear overall progression of ideas, making the text difficult to follow. This performance corresponds to a Band 4 descriptor, where information and ideas are not arranged coherently.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, with frequent reliance on simple words like 'work', 'baby', 'house', and 'good'. There are noticeable attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'contemporary epoch', but these are often used inappropriately or awkwardly, leading to lexical inaccuracies. Spelling and word-choice errors are frequent, such as 'majoriy', 'working to outside', 'nessary', and 'mentel health'. These errors cause some difficulty for the reader and impede smooth communication at times. The lexical range is minimally adequate for the task, fitting the Band 5 descriptors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The grammatical range is extremely limited, consisting almost entirely of poorly controlled complex structures fused together with excessive comma splices. There is an absence of correct sentence boundary punctuation, resulting in a text where almost no sentences are grammatically complete or accurate on their own. Frequent errors include tense confusion, missing prepositions, and incorrect verb forms, such as 'you can not care of own baby', 'If your job have very important for you', and 'If you are do not like any work'. These pervasive errors cause significant difficulty for the reader, aligning the grammar score firmly with Band 4.
