Student answer (Band 5.0)

Some times it is possible to hire someone to do the tasks which you do not want to do or you don't have enough for them. For instance, looking after children or household works.

This trend has become debated for many years, with many people claiming that it is beneficial to provide work for others while others reject this notion. In my opinion, both ideas are equally important.

First and foremost , the reason is that when we pay others for our household works it is very helpful for them to earn money, specially, in this era when unemployment is rampant in society.

There are many people in the society which are illeterate and cannot find appropriate jobs, so it is better for them to work household tasks instead of begging. In this way, it is proved that this trend plays a vital role in making the poor people self sufficient.

The trend of looking after children by nanies has significantlyl escalated in this era, when nuclear families are more than joint families. People prefer to keep someone to compensate their responsibilities regarding household work load and care for children.

On the other hand, many people like to perform all household work themselves. They are more satisfied and peaceful in doing their own work. Besides, it also reduces the household expenditures. They have their own vision of financial expenditures.

To recapitulate, both trends are equally important, therefore evry one should

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to address both parts of the prompt regarding providing work for others and whether people should perform household tasks themselves. However, there are significant issues with task completion. Crucially, the Length Check confirms that the essay contains only 240 words, falling short of the required 250-word minimum, which must be penalised under Task Achievement. Furthermore, the conclusion is abruptly cut off at the end ("therefore evry one should"), meaning the student's final stance is incomplete. While the body paragraphs put forward relevant ideas about employment generation and personal satisfaction, the lack of completion and failure to meet the minimum word count restricts the score for this criterion to Band 5.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay displays a basic overall organisation with distinct paragraphs, including an introduction, body paragraphs addressing different viewpoints, and an attempted conclusion. Transitional markers such as "First and foremost", "In this way", and "On the other hand" are utilised to guide the reader through the arguments. However, referencing and cohesion are sometimes faulty, and paragraphing is disrupted by the abrupt, unfinished ending. The logical progression is hindered by repetitive phrasing and weak cohesive links between sentences. Overall, the structural arrangement demonstrates the characteristics of Band 5.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student demonstrates an adequate vocabulary range for the task, attempting some less common words and phrases such as "rampant", "self sufficient", and "significantly escalated". However, there are numerous lexical and spelling errors throughout the response, including "Some times" (sometimes), "works" used instead of "chores" in several places, "illeterate" (illiterate), "nanies" (nannies), and "evry one" (everyone). These noticeable errors and awkward word choices occasionally cause difficulty for the reader, aligning the vocabulary performance with Band 5.0 descriptors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some attempt at variety with relative clauses and conditional structures (e.g., "when unemployment is rampant in society"). However, grammar and punctuation accuracy is weak, featuring frequent errors such as subject-verb agreement issues ("There are many people in the society which are illeterate"), missing words or articles, and incomplete sentences. The frequent errors cause some strain for the reader, particularly towards the end of the text where the sentence structure breaks down entirely. This performance sits firmly at Band 5.0.
