Student answer (Band 6.0)

In recent years, people are too busy with their lives and it is very difficult to take out some quality time for yourself and your loved ones. So, one find it convenient to pay somebody to do chores, which they do not want to do, or have time to complete it. In this essay I will further discuss this topic.

In my opinion, unemployement has incresed drastically in developing countries because of recession. People are finding it difficult to find job in their professional field. Which, providing work like household chores, cleaning car, childcare and walking dog are very convenient ways to earn money. In this people are getting job and the people who needs money to pay for their basic ammenities like rent, tuition fees and support their children by doing part time, their needs are also fulfilled. For example, I had to pay my tuition fees and I was not able to work full time as a student in the foreign country. So, in my neighbourhood they needed someone to walk their dog everyday, as the couple was very busy with their jobs. But they also loved their god, so they paid me to walk their dog because they did not had the time to do.

It is not compulsory people should compulsory do all the things by themselves. It is also important to take out time for themselves. For example, a person can wash their cars on their own, but that takes lot of time and he just have weekends off. In that case, he could take out time for his family and friends just by paying for the car wash service, and even the person washing the car will get financia support and pay his bills.

In conclusion, it is a good way to provide employement by paying for basic chores, which a person cannot perform or have time to do it.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The student addresses both parts of the prompt, discussing whether paying others for chores is a good way to provide work and whether people should perform these tasks themselves. A clear position is maintained throughout the essay. Ideas are extended with relevant personal examples, such as the student's experience walking a dog in a foreign country to pay tuition fees. However, some arguments tend to over-generalize, and parts of the development could be more fully explored to reach a higher band. For instance, the economic benefits of such work could be contrasted with broader societal implications. Overall, all parts of the task are adequately addressed, meeting the criteria for a Band 6.5 or solid Band 6 performance.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraphing used to separate the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. Ideas are logically sequenced, moving from the definition of the trend to employment benefits and personal perspectives. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or faulty, as seen in linking phrases like 'Which, providing work like...' and 'In this people are getting job'. Referencing and pronouns (such as 'they' and 'which') are occasionally unclear, leading to slight confusion in sentence connections. Despite these minor lapses in logical flow, the progression of the essay remains clear enough to follow easily, aligning well with the Band 6 descriptors.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common lexical items such as 'unemployment', 'developing countries', 'recession', and 'financial support'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text, including 'unemployement', 'incresed', 'job' instead of 'jobs', 'ammenities' instead of 'amenities', and the malformed phrase 'loved their god' (likely meaning dog). While these errors do not impede overall communication, they restrict the lexical score to Band 6, as the student's control over less common vocabulary lacks precision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating conditional and subordinate clauses such as 'In recent years, people are too busy with their lives and it is very difficult to take out some quality time...' and 'For example, I had to pay my tuition fees and I was not able to work full time...'. However, there are frequent grammatical errors and awkward phrasing, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('one find it'), fragment sentences ('Which, providing work like...'), and tense inconsistencies ('did not had the time'). Punctuation errors also appear. These grammatical slips can occasionally cause difficulty for the reader, placing the response firmly in the Band 5.5 to 6 range.
