Should people do these things themselves?

Student answer (Band 6.5)

Interestingly, people often tend to employ an individual to perform the basic household chores and other juveniles related responsibilities rather than doing it by themselves. Even though such tasks should be prioritized by payers themselves, it is indeed an easy earning opportunity for some, especially the fresh co-op students.

Conspicuously, since the unemployement rates are continuously increasing at an alarming rate despite the unsuccessful efforts from the government, individuals can help mitigate this problem by creating small jobs for caretakers. What is more, not only it will help the parents to focus entirely on work during the business hours, children can also benefit by having proper attention and finding a soulmate with whom, they can spend their time with. Financially, such employees can become more independent and cover their finances. Altough, these roles can be shares, the primary onus is for the parents to raise their offsprings.

Moving onto the fact that the modren workforce is undoubetdly putting extra efforts while at the worksite in order to fulfill never ending deadlines, they usually forget their personal responsibilities. In fact, as soon as they enter home, they are looking for bed to take some rest and regain strength for the next day. Thus, hiring someone for household chores such as managing laundry, cooking for family and maintaining cleanliness has proved to be a tremenduous addition for those who can actually afford. On the contrary, it can result in an additional budren for others who just try to imitate their aristcrat neighbours just to maintain their high status in the contemporary society.

Considering the circumstances, I opine that hiring individuals for childcare and other household chores is a more apropos option due to certain financial and social benefits. Nonetheless, wherever possible, people themselves should try to take care for their children so that there is a good bonding within the family.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt directly: whether this is a good way of providing work for others and whether people should do these things themselves. The student establishes a clear position throughout the essay, arguing that it offers important economic benefits while also maintaining that parents should ideally care for their children themselves where possible. Ideas are extended and supported, such as discussing the modern workforce's long working hours and the financial independence it creates for students. However, there is a slight tendency to over-generalise in parts, such as assuming everyone hires help merely to imitate neighbours. Overall, the task is well-addressed in line with Band 7 descriptors.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The essay displays clear logical organisation and progression throughout. Each paragraph has a distinct focus, moving from an introduction to job creation, then to the realities of the modern workforce, and finally a balanced conclusion. Cohesive devices are used reasonably well, such as "Conspicuously", "What is more", and "On the contrary", though some transitions feel slightly mechanical or forced (e.g., "Moving onto the fact that"). Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately to structure the argument. Referencing is generally clear, though minor cohesive slips occur, placing this securely at Band 6.5 to 7.0. Band 7 is awarded for clear overall logical progression.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

The student demonstrates a sufficient range of vocabulary to allow some flexibility and precision, attempting less common items such as "unemployment rates", "contemporary society", and "apropos". However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text, including "juveniles" instead of juvenile-related, "unempoonment" (unemployment), "Altough", "shares" (shared), "modren", "undoubetdly", "tremenduous", "budren" (burden), "aristcrat" (aristocratic), and "apropos". While these errors do not seriously impede communication, their frequency prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. The lexical resource is characteristic of a solid Band 6 performance.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

The writer uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including relative clauses and conditional structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors and punctuation slips, such as subject-verb agreement issues ("offsprings" instead of offspring, "children can also benefit... with whom, they can spend their time with"), dangling modifiers, and incorrect prepositions ("take care for their children"). Additionally, sentences like "not only it will help" suffer from inversion errors after a negative introductory element (should be "not only will it help"). While complex structures are attempted, they are often slightly faulty. These errors place the grammatical control at Band 6.
