Student answer (Band 5.5)

In contemporary society, a individual is so indulge in professional life that he is not able to do small tasks at home. Moreover, with the increase in expanses sometimes both father and mother has to work to meet the ends and for that sometime they have to hire a house help. This essay will address whether hiring for household chores is a good way of providing work for others or not.

Nowadays, increase in inflation demands both husband and wife to work so that they can bear the expenses. However, at the end of the day they do not have energy to do domestic chores or look after their child. So, they have to hire someone who do these tasks for them. Morally it is beneficial for someone who is needy and this way they help a individual. However, we must forget that it will increase their expense too. Nonetheless, there are also some people who do not like household chores and they find it convenient to have a house help.

However, taking care of a house and make it home is a huge responsibility which no one can perform better than a family member. A significant number of people do not trust anybody when it comes to their home and children. They prefer to do every small thing themselves, which give them peace and relaxation. Although they sometime get tired because of a same routine despite of this they will never ignore their responsibility. Looking after a house and children is more tiring than a 9 to 5 job. For instance, a person has to work 24/7, without any vacation.

In my perspective, one must help others by offering a job if he can afford in this way they can also earn lawfully. Nevertheless, one should not rely on an outsider to look after his home all the time in this why he will dependent on that individual and may be in future he will get the advantage of this dependence.

To conclude, it is advisable to have a helping hand but not entirely dependent on him. Since, it may be cost you financially and emotionally. Furthermore, nobody raise a child better than a parents.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: whether hiring help is a good way to provide work, and whether people should do these tasks themselves. The writer takes a clear position throughout, suggesting that while it helps the needy financially, relying entirely on outsiders is unwise and parenting/household duties are best done personally. The ideas are generally relevant and extended with examples, such as mentioning the demands of a 9-to-5 job versus 24/7 household management. However, some arguments tend to over-generalise and lack deeper development, placing the response solidly in Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs addressing different aspects of the prompt, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate ideas. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or faulty, such as the repetitive use of transitional phrases like 'However,' at the beginning of consecutive paragraphs ('However, increase in inflation...', 'However, taking care of a house...'). Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as pronoun confusion ('in this why he will dependent on that individual'). Logical progression is present, but these cohesive issues limit the score to a Band 6.0.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common terms such as 'contemporary society,' 'domestic chores,' and 'financially and emotionally.' However, there are noticeable word-choice and collocation errors throughout the text, such as 'a individual' instead of 'an individual,' 'so indulge' instead of 'so indulged,' 'expanses' instead of 'expenses,' and 'meet the ends' instead of 'make ends meet.' While these errors do not severely impede communication, they reflect a lack of precision that prevents the response from reaching Band 7.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some attempt at variety with conditional and subordinate clauses. However, there are frequent grammatical errors in agreement, articles, and tense usage. Examples include 'both father and mother has to work' (subject-verb agreement), 'someone who do these tasks' (should be 'does'), 'give them peace' (should be 'gives'), and 'nobody raise a child better than a parents' (should be 'raises' and 'parents'). These errors occur regularly across the text, though they rarely impede overall communication, supporting a Band 5.5 score.
