Student answer (Band 6.0)

In recent years, the question of whether we should hire somebody when it is not possible to do our things, such as household chores and taking care of our child or people should do these tasks themselves has sparked an intense debate. I believe it is a good initiative to allow someone to do these things by paying them for that.

First and foremost, this help others to pay their weekly expenses. Many individuals are struggling to find a relevant job in their fields and this causes an extreme financial do burden on them. To mitigate this growing problem, we can hire them on weekly or monthly basis as per our needs to reduce this issue upto some extent. Some provide them housekeeping or grass cutting job, this way they will get their work done and pay the relevant charges.

Furthermore, nowadays almost every individual is exhausted with the studies or workplace environment, nobody wants to perform any household chores after reaching home. They want a peaceful space to relax instead of again start thinking about the house activities. However, the another crucial point to focus is that we cannot rely on others or give them responsibility to manage these chores because multiple cases of robbery and theft have been reported due to lack of attention to hired personnel.

Based on the aforementioned discussion, it is understandable that due to busy schedules, it is sometimes impossible to perform extra household activities and hiring somebody provides a sense of comfort, but relying to much on others could lead to critical issues as well.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, discussing whether hiring help provides a good way of providing work and whether people should do these tasks themselves. The writer takes a clear position in the introduction, agreeing that it is a good initiative. Ideas are generally relevant, but some points lack full development. For example, the argument regarding security risks and theft is introduced in the third paragraph but not fully elaborated with specific consequences or examples. Overall, the task is addressed adequately, fitting the criteria for Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction and conclusion. Paragraphing is used to separate main ideas, such as financial benefits in the second paragraph and stress reduction versus security concerns in the third. However, cohesive devices are sometimes faulty or mechanical, as seen with transitions like 'However, the another crucial point' and 'relying to much'. Referencing and logical progression between sentences occasionally falter, leading to a score of 6.0.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common phrases such as 'financial burden', 'mitigate this growing problem', and 'busy schedules'. However, there are noticeable word choice and collocation errors, such as 'help others to pay' instead of 'helps others pay', 'upto some extent', and 'grass cutting job' instead of 'gardening work'. Spelling and word formation errors also appear, including 'to much' instead of 'too much', which place this response firmly at Band 6.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms. The writer attempts complex structures, such as conditional and relative clauses ('whether we should hire somebody when it is not possible to do our things...'). However, there are several grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('this help others' instead of 'helps'), preposition errors ('on weekly or monthly basis'), and missing articles. While these errors do not impede overall communication, they occur with frequency, justifying a Band 6.0 score.
