It is sometimes possible to pay somebody to do things you don't want to do, or don't have time to do, for example, household chores or looking after children.

Is this a good way of providing work for others?

Should people do these things themselves?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is commonly said by people that, if possible, we should get the work of babysitting and house help outsourced. I believe that this is a great practice, as there will be a lot of employment and it will help people in giving their time to other useful work.

This habit of providing jobs to others will help not only the job provider but also the person who is going to work for them. For example, many students in Canada do house cleaning for people as a part-time job. With this, students earn money, and the people who are busy get their work done. Another compelling reason for this trend is that people get more time to spend with their family and friends. For instance, Many individuals have a very tiring work schedule. With it, they are not able to give time to their Parents or spouses, so with the help of personal work support, they can get time for their personal things.

This habit of getting work done by others has more pros, so I opine that we should get it done by others so as to give time to our health and other important things. To explain it, I always try to go to the gym after my work, even if I get tired mentally, to get myself physically fit. I tend to do some power yoga, but on the other hand, if I get busy with my household work, I may miss the gym, which may have an adverse effect on my body.

In conclusion, every individual who has the capacity to pay should hire help for their day-to-day side work to reduce the tension of overwork and help the people who are in a need earn money.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, discussing both whether outsourcing chores is a good way to provide employment and whether people should do these tasks themselves. A clear position is maintained throughout the essay. The ideas are extended and supported with relevant examples, such as students in Canada doing part-time house cleaning. However, the development of ideas tends to rely on personal anecdotes, such as the writer's gym routine, rather than broader societal exploration, which keeps the response at a Band 6.0 level. Nevertheless, all prompt requirements are properly addressed and covered.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas, such as employment benefits versus personal health benefits. Cohesive devices are employed, although some transitions feel a bit mechanical or repetitive, such as the recurrent use of 'This habit of'. Referencing is generally clear, but the logical progression between sentences occasionally stumbles, particularly in the transitions within the body paragraphs. Overall, the structural flow is sufficiently clear to ensure the reader easily follows the writer's argument.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common lexical items such as 'outsourced', 'compelling reason', and 'adverse effect'. However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and slight awkwardness in phrasing, such as 'personal work support' and 'day-to-day side work'. Spelling is accurate throughout the piece, and errors in word choice do not impede communication. The vocabulary suffices to convey the intended meaning, achieving a solid Band 6.0 performance.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

The writer uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over conditional and subordinate clauses, such as in the sentence 'if I get busy with my household work, I may miss the gym'. There are several grammatical errors and awkward structures present, including 'give time to their Parents' with unnecessary capitalization and 'who are in a need' with an incorrect article. However, these errors rarely impede communication, and punctuation is generally handled well. The balance of error-free sentences and mixed structures warrants a Band 6.0.
