Student answer (Band 5.5)

If people do not want to their own stuff or they do not have enough time for it then it is an ideal approach to hire someone else to do household chores or babysitting. It is an essential part of the modern life to hire someone to get rid from the daily chaos. Individuals who are doing job to make their future bright with excessive workload or did not spend enough time with their family, it is helpful for them.

Firstly, parents who works eight hours in the office and travel for approximately two hours per day, they do not get enough time to spend with their child. For example, a corporate couple who have a hectic schedules during weekdays, it is difficult for them to engage with kids. So, they prefer to hire a person who is looking after their children. Sometimes they play games and sometimes they go out together for a walk. Meanwhile, children enjoy a company and do not getting bored alone.

Secondly, employees who earn good amount of money and doing more towards their career, it is difficult for them to manage household and professional works together. Sometime career enthusiastic people struggles with their own personal life, for them it is a best solution to handover their routine tasks to the housemaid. They are able to do all the tasks without any discrepancy. For instance, according to the data, almost 70% Indians prefer servants who do their routine works.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the main prompt by discussing the benefits of hiring help for chores and childcare, but the treatment of the two distinct questions is somewhat unbalanced. While the second question regarding whether people should do these things themselves is touched upon through the discussion of busy parents and professionals, the arguments remain limited and under-developed. For instance, the claim that '70% Indians prefer servants' is asserted without adequate elaboration or direct connection to the core debate. The overall position is visible throughout the text, but the ideas lack the full extension and support required for a higher band, as points tend to be stated briefly rather than thoroughly explored with detailed examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt to structure the essay into an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is utilised to separate distinct ideas, such as childcare in the first body paragraph and household chores in the second. However, cohesion at times feels mechanical or faulty. Devices such as 'Firstly,' and 'Secondly,' are used to sequence points, but referencing and transitions between sentences can be imprecise, as seen in the slightly disjointed flow within the conclusion where phrasing like 'approach maid and which will gives benefit' disrupts logical progression. Overall, the organizational structure is functional, but the management of cohesive ties requires smoother integration.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The writer employs an adequate vocabulary range for the task, successfully communicating everyday concepts related to employment, family life, and household responsibilities. There are several attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'corporate couple,' 'hectic schedules,' and 'discrepancy,' but these are occasionally accompanied by word-choice and collocation errors. Expressions like 'doing job to make their future bright' or 'doing more towards their career' sound unnatural. Furthermore, there are noticeable spelling and word-form inaccuracies, such as 'not getting bored' instead of 'from getting bored' and 'servants' where 'domestic helpers' might be more appropriate. These errors do not seriously impede communication, but they restrict the lexical score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The text demonstrates a limited range of structures, relying on a mix of simple and somewhat faulty complex sentences. There are frequent grammatical errors involving verb forms, tenses, subject-verb agreement, and articles. Examples include 'If people do not want to their own stuff', 'parents who works', and 'children enjoy a company and do not getting bored'. Attempts at complex structures frequently result in grammatical instability, such as in the sentence beginning with 'Individuals who are doing job...'. Punctuation and prepositional patterns also show recurring inaccuracies, which place demands on the reader and reflect typical patterns of a lower grammatical band.
