Student answer (Band 7.0)
Nowadays, many people pay others to carry out tasks due to lack of time or not willing to do, such as cleaning, cooking and looking after their children. In my view, this is a valuable source of employment, but people should still do some of these tasks themselves, especially raising their children.
Regarding the first question, paying for an household service is an effective way of creating employment and income for people. This kind of roles often require practical skills rather than formal qualification, so they provide income for people who are struggling to find work such as immigrants or those without an university degree. Moreover, busy professionals can hire a cleaner or nanny to do their work so they can focus much more on their productivity and increase their income. For example, In metropolitan cities such as Toronto and Ottawa domestic cleaning and nanny service provide an employment to thousands of the people every day.
Turning to the second question, I agree that some tasks are acceptable to handover but other should be done personally. Routine household chores such as cleaning can be outsourced, as they are not that much important. However, taking care of children should be prioritize. I believe that parents who are heavily rely on nanny miss some important and valuable parts of their children life and fails to build an emotional connection with them. In addition, doing housework as a family such as cleaning and cooking food can give practical lessons to child, as it become helpful for them in future days.
In conclusion, paying others to do household tasks is a positive way of providing work and supporting the economy. Nevertheless, people should remain directly involved in the most important responsibilities, especially caring for their own children, rather than avoiding them entirely.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.5
The response addresses all parts of the task thoroughly, presenting a clear position throughout. The writer explores whether outsourcing chores provides work for others and discusses whether people should do these tasks themselves. Ideas are well-extended and supported with relevant examples, such as mentioning domestic cleaning and nanny services in metropolitan cities like Toronto and Ottawa. However, while the main arguments are clear, there is a slight tendency to overgeneralise in certain places, which places the development just below the highest bands. The arguments regarding employment generation and the importance of parental involvement are thoughtfully balanced, satisfying the requirements for a fully addressed prompt with well-developed ideas, though some supporting points could be explored with even greater depth to push into higher territory.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.5
There is a clear logical organisation and progression throughout the essay. The response is divided into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs addressing each prompt question directly, and a concise conclusion. Cohesive devices are used reasonably well to guide the reader, such as 'Regarding the first question' and 'Turning to the second question'. However, minor instances of mechanical referencing or slight underuse of sophisticated cohesive links keep it from achieving a higher band. Paragraphing is handled sufficiently and appropriately, ensuring that each central theme is isolated and developed in its own distinct section.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.5
The writer demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items with some awareness of style and collocation, such as 'outsourced', 'productive', and 'metropolitan cities'. However, there are noticeable lexical errors and awkward word choices, such as 'an household service', 'provide an employment', and 'taking care of children should be prioritize' (which blends word form and choice issues). Spelling and word-choice errors occur occasionally, but they do not impede communication, allowing the reader to follow the arguments easily. Expanding the precision of word forms and refining collocations would elevate this criterion.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5
The response employs a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating an attempt at structures like conditional or relative clauses. There are several grammatical errors present, particularly with articles, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions inside grammatical patterns, such as 'due to lack of time or not willing to do', 'without an university degree', and 'heavily rely on nanny'. Punctuation is generally acceptable, and errors rarely impede communication. To achieve a higher band, the writer would need to produce a higher frequency of error-free complex sentences and exercise tighter control over grammatical agreements and article usage.
