Should people do these things themselves?

Student answer (Band 6.0)

Some work, which we do not want to do or we do not have time to do, can be done by hiring someone. It is definitely a good way of providing employment to jobless people. I do not think people should do all chores by themselves and strain themselves for the works which can be done by others for few amount.

Providing work to others for the simple task is a positive aspect. As people are busy with their hectic schedule and work load, some of the easy household work can be done by paying some money to others. Those task are too simple and even a teenager could perform it. However, these task consume too much time and effort which a working person can not bear. For instance, people can outsource others to do their laundry once or twice a week, it will not take much expense while providing free time to the working class.

People should not do every task by themselves if the work can be done by others with a small pay. It helps to increase the employment and help semi-skilled or even unskilled people to generate income as they are able to perform these small task with ease. For example, a foreign immigrant with no skill can perform the duty of child care as it is a basic thing for any human, they just need to look after the child and play with them as many parents do not have enough time for their children.

In conclusion, paying others for simple household work to get help is really a positive aspect as it help to ease the pressure and strain. Hence, people should be encouraged to hire people for the small jobs.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear throughout: you support paying others for household tasks and argue that people need not do every chore themselves. You address both questions and give relevant examples, including laundry and childcare, so the response meets the task well. The explanation that outsourcing creates income for people with limited skills also develops the employment point. To make the discussion more complete, develop the second question beyond the general claim that people should not do every task themselves. For example, explain when people might reasonably prefer to do chores personally, or discuss safeguards and responsibilities when hiring someone to care for children. The childcare example is relevant, but its claim that this is a basic task is too broad and needs qualification or support.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs give reasons and examples, and a conclusion restates your position. Ideas generally progress logically, and examples are placed near the points they support. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, particularly through repeated references to “small task” and repeated use of “people” and “others.” Some links between claims could also be clearer: the paragraph about employment moves from simple chores to the claim about unskilled childcare without explaining the connection fully. Use more precise referencing and vary transitions, while ensuring each paragraph develops one central point. A clearer distinction between the benefits of outsourcing and situations where doing tasks oneself may be preferable would strengthen progression.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including phrases such as “hectic schedule,” “outsource,” “semi-skilled,” and “generate income.” These show some range beyond basic wording. However, several choices are inaccurate or unnatural, and repeated general terms limit precision. For instance, “for few amount” and “providing free time” do not express the intended meanings naturally; “those task” is also an incorrect form. The description of childcare as “a basic thing for any human” is imprecise and risks sounding dismissive of the responsibility involved. Aim for more accurate collocations and specific terms for household services, employment, and childcare. Proofreading word forms and plural endings would also improve clarity.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including subordinate clauses such as “As people are busy with their hectic schedule…” and conditional phrasing in “if the work can be done by others.” Meaning is generally clear, and errors rarely prevent understanding. Some grammatical problems remain, especially with agreement and plural forms: “Those task are” and “these task consume” should use plural nouns, while “it help” should be “it helps.” There are also issues with articles and sentence construction, as in “for few amount,” and the long sentence beginning “For instance, people can outsource…” would be clearer if divided or punctuated more carefully. Continue using complex structures, but check agreement and sentence boundaries.
