IELTS Writing Task 2 question
It is sometimes possible to pay somebody to do things you don't want to do, or don't have time to do, for example, household chores or looking after children.
Is this a good way of providing work for others?
Should people do these things themselves?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
Nowadays it has become so common that people get the household chores and looking after their children done from any helping services either for not wanting to do it regularly or having busy schedule.
Firstly we know about how fast the time is changing and how people are priotising their career, it becomes tough specially for the females as they have the responsibilities of doing more part of the household chores and looking after their children. So people hire someone to do the same on their behalf for a pre decided wage, and this is infact a better idea to create opportunities for people. in this way the people can concentrate on their career and manage the house as well as without any obstacle. suppose a person working 8 hours a day and getting well paid can afford a person to manage the house in return of wages.
Secondly, if people who are suffering from OCD prefer to do their own work as they may sometimes dislike the work done by others. Or maybe some people who work for part time or those people who work from home at their convenient time also might prefer doing their work by themselves. one of my friends works from home and manages her child too with the household chores
According to my opinion, People who can afford paying out for getting their work done in return of spending their time taking rest or with family will obviously go for the same while the people have much of time would rather save their money by not paying for the things they can do.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both questions: you argue that hiring help can create employment and allow people to focus on careers, while recognising that some people may prefer to do chores themselves. The example of a well-paid worker hiring help supports the first view, and your friend’s experience illustrates the second. However, the discussion is uneven: the benefits of paid help are explained more fully, whereas the reasons for doing tasks oneself are brief and partly unclear. The reference to people with OCD is introduced without explaining how it relates to the wider question. To strengthen the response, state your position more explicitly and develop both sides with clearer reasons and relevant examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure, moving from the general context to reasons for hiring help, then to people who prefer to manage tasks themselves, and finally to a concluding opinion. Sequencing words such as “Firstly” and “Secondly” help signal this progression. However, the second body paragraph combines several different points—OCD, part-time work, working from home, and a personal example—without clearly showing how they connect. Some links are also mechanical, and the final paragraph repeats the contrast between people who can afford help and those who have time without fully drawing the discussion together. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each example directly to the point it supports.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a range of relevant vocabulary, including “household chores,” “responsibilities,” “career,” “opportunities,” and “afford,” which makes the main ideas understandable. There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “pre decided wage” and “concentrate on their career.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, including “helping services,” “getting their work done from,” and “in return of wages.” Spelling and form errors such as “priotising” and “infact” also reduce precision. Aim for more natural combinations and check spelling carefully; for example, use “hire domestic help,” “have tasks done,” and “in exchange for wages.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses beginning with “as” and “while,” and the main meaning is generally recoverable. However, errors in sentence construction and punctuation are noticeable. For example, “Nowadays it has become so common that…” is followed by an unclear structure, while “in this way the people can concentrate…” begins a new sentence without appropriate capitalisation. The sentence beginning “suppose a person working 8 hours a day” is also a fragment rather than a complete conditional example. There are problems with articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries, as in “the people have much of time.” Practise building complete sentences and proofreading punctuation and basic grammatical forms.
