Should people do these things themselves?

Student answer (Band 6.0)

There is an ongoing debate regarding whether people hire someone to do the household chores such as cooking, cleaning or individuals should manage their responsibilities. My position is elaborated with people do not depend on others for basic work as it help to save money and share work responsibilities.

On the one hand, paying someone to perform houshold duties can create job opportunities. Most of the people earn their living by working as babysitters, cleaners or domestic work. This makes people to help financially who have not a good qualification. In addition, people can focus on their careers and achieve their goals if they pay someone for their daily task. For example, individuals hire babysitters for their children to take care of them during their office time.As a result , it is beneficial for both employee and employer.

On the other side, I believe that paying money to someone is not a good idea because people can save money if they should do basic household task by themselves. People who do not have enough money, they can't afford anyone to hire. Domestic work not only save money, but also it develop usefull skills like oragnize work and time management.Furthermore, all the family can learn to share different responsibilities of household work. For instance, children learn to help their help parents doing in simple things at early age which encourge them to understand their duties when they grow.

In conclusion , although giving money to someone is positive way to create job opportunities and help to manage their busy schedule, I think people should learn to handle their household duties independently as it develop various skills and teach children to do their task by themselves.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both questions and maintain a clear preference for people handling household duties themselves, while acknowledging that paid help can create jobs and free time for work. The examples of babysitters and children learning to help at home are relevant, and your conclusion restates your position. This meets the task well overall, but the two sides are not developed equally: the benefits of paid work are explained briefly, and the claim that doing chores develops skills could use a more specific explanation or example. To strengthen the response further, explain when hiring help may be worthwhile and clarify how families can balance this with sharing chores themselves.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two contrasting body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other side,” and “In conclusion” make the main progression easy to follow. The ideas within each paragraph are generally relevant and ordered sensibly, but some linking is mechanical, and a few connections are unclear—for example, the transition from saving money to developing skills is abrupt. The example about children also becomes difficult to follow because several ideas are compressed into one sentence. Use referencing and transitions more naturally, and make sure each example clearly illustrates the point immediately before it.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “job opportunities,” “babysitters,” “domestic work,” “responsibilities,” and “time management.” This gives you enough language to communicate the main ideas, but the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors reduce precision. Examples include “household task” where a plural is needed, “help financially who have not a good qualification,” and misspellings such as “houshold,” “usefull,” and “encourge.” Some phrases, including “daily task,” are also vague in context. Aim to learn common collocations for employment and household duties, and proofread spelling and word forms so your meaning is consistently clear.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional and subordinate clauses, as in “if they pay someone for their daily task” and “if they should do basic household task by themselves.” However, control is uneven, and errors in sentence construction, agreement, articles, and punctuation sometimes make the reader pause. For example, “as it help to save money” has an agreement error, while “people who do not have enough money, they can't afford anyone to hire” has an unclear clause structure. There are also run-on or poorly punctuated sentences, such as the sentence beginning “Domestic work not only save money.” Practise building accurate complex sentences and check each sentence for a clear subject and verb.
