Should people do these things themselves?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 5.5)

A substantial proportion of population believes that it is convenient to hire a househelp to assist them in taking care of the domestic work and looking after young kids.

More than half of the population is working full-time, including men and women. Due to their hectic schedules, it is difficult for the individuals to manage home and office work together. So, to minimize their stress, those people ussually hire professionals to look after the house in their absence.

Taking care of the toddlers is a very time consuming job, and if you have an elderly person at home, it multiplies. Particularly, the who are unemployed are considered doing nothing at home although they run greater tasks. for that they require somebody to help them all day. Otherwise, it would eventually lead to distress and discomfort. These women are assigned with an unpaid, non-stop job which needs full attention to detail.

This is a nice way to help others to give them opportunity to earn better. These people also deserves to live a happy and cheerful life with all the luxuries they can afford. This way they can contribute to their families financially and will make their economic status better.

People who are employed should hire the househelp while the indivisuals who are enemployed should try to work themselves to stay healthy.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address both questions: you argue that hiring help can provide income, and you suggest that employed people should hire help while unemployed people should do the work themselves. However, the position is not fully clear or consistently supported. The discussion of working parents’ time pressures is relevant, but the paragraph about unemployed women needing help does not explain why they would need to hire someone, and the final distinction between employed and unemployed people is asserted rather than justified. The benefits to workers are also stated generally, without a specific example. The response is 29 words below the required minimum, which limits the space available to develop these points. Explain both sides more fully and support your recommendations with reasons or examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a recognisable paragraph structure: it introduces the topic, gives reasons people may need help, discusses employment benefits, and ends with a recommendation. Basic links such as “Due to” and “Otherwise” help connect some ideas. However, the overall progression is not always clear. The paragraph beginning “Taking care of the toddlers” shifts from childcare to elderly people and then to unemployed women, without clearly showing how these points relate. The final sentence introduces a distinction between employed and unemployed people that has not been prepared or explained. Some transitions are also abrupt, and the conclusion is very brief. Group related ideas together and use clearer links to show how each reason supports your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some topic-appropriate vocabulary, including “hectic schedules,” “domestic work,” “unpaid,” and “economic status,” and the meaning is generally understandable. There are also attempts at less common expressions, such as “attention to detail,” though this is not quite natural in the context of describing care work. Several word choices, forms, and spellings reduce precision: “househelp” and “indivisuals” are problematic, while “give them opportunity” and “earn better” are awkward collocations. “Luxuries” also makes the benefit sound narrower than the intended idea of improved living standards. Aim for accurate, natural phrases such as “domestic worker,” “provide them with an opportunity,” and “earn a better income,” and check spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including a reason clause in “Due to their hectic schedules” and a conditional structure in “Otherwise, it would eventually lead to distress.” Most sentences communicate a basic idea, but errors recur in agreement, articles, and sentence construction. For example, “These people also deserves” should be “These people also deserve,” and “the who are unemployed” is missing a noun or pronoun. The sentence beginning “Particularly” is also difficult to follow, and “for that they require” is not properly connected to the preceding sentence. There is some control of basic sentence forms, but complex ideas need more reliable construction. Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and verb, and use punctuation to separate complete thoughts.
