Should people do these things themselves?

Student answer (Band 5.0)

In the contemporary era, lifestyle has become busier and it is often observed that wealthy communities used to employ individuals to do some small tasks such as cleaning and babysitting so they can prioritize their important tasks. I believe that this development is positive for the society because it gives opportunities to the people who are in the need of work and people who does not have a time to look after baby or househore can complete the tasks.

To begin with, there are positive outcomes when individuals hire a person of their family or community to do their task. Individuals with limited time or lack of expertise may push them to hire a person. This helping hand allows them to improve relations with another guy. It also allow employer to focus on

Conversely, people should not transfer every responsibility on someone else's shoulder. They should evaluate things properly because hiring a person for housework may exploit their privacy. They should be very careful when selecting a person because wrong individuals may create bad consequences.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You state a clear overall view that hiring help is positive, and you also acknowledge a limitation by warning that people should not transfer every responsibility to others. These points are relevant to both questions. However, the response only partially develops them: the benefit of providing work is mentioned, but there is no concrete explanation of how this supports workers or an example, and the second question is addressed only briefly through privacy concerns. The sentence ending “It also allow employer to focus on” is unfinished, leaving a key idea incomplete. The response is also 75 words below the required minimum, which restricts the explanation and support. Develop both sides with specific reasons and examples, and complete the essay with a conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph beginning “To begin with,” and a contrasting paragraph introduced by “Conversely.” This helps the reader recognise the shift from benefits to concerns. However, progression is limited because the first body paragraph stops mid-sentence, and there is no concluding paragraph to bring the position together. Connections between ideas are also thin: “This helping hand” refers generally to hiring someone, while the relationship benefit is asserted without explanation. Use a complete paragraph for each main answer, link each supporting reason clearly to its point, and add a brief conclusion. A more developed sequence would make the argument easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “employ,” “prioritize,” “limited time,” “expertise,” and “privacy.” These choices show an attempt to discuss the issue beyond very basic terms. However, several expressions are imprecise or unnatural, such as “small tasks,” “another guy,” and “wrong individuals,” and “househore” is misspelled. “In the need of work” is also an awkward phrase. These choices sometimes make the intended meaning less clear or less formal. Aim for accurate collocations and a consistent formal register, for example by referring to domestic workers, household responsibilities, and potential risks. Proofreading spelling and word forms would further improve clarity.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

There is some variety in sentence forms, including a complex opening sentence and the conditional structure “when selecting a person.” Meaning is generally recoverable, but errors in agreement and sentence construction are noticeable. For example, “people who does not have a time” should use a plural verb and a more accurate article pattern, while “It also allow employer” has agreement and article errors. The phrase “may push them to hire a person” is also awkwardly constructed, and “It also allow employer to focus on” is incomplete. Work on subject–verb agreement, articles, and completing clauses. Building a few accurate complex sentences before adding more ambitious structures will help make the argument clearer.
