Should people do these things themselves?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, paying someone to help people in their household activities has become increasingly common. This trend is really popular in some countries where individuals take assistance from others in their daily jobs like cleaning or taking care of their family by paying them. I completely agree that this is benefical for both individuals involved in paying and doing job.

To begin with, taking help in routine tasks provide opportunities to masses to earn and support themselves financially. In some countries, people usually work and due to having less time, they hire someone to complete their household tasks like cleaning, cooking or washing their clothes. For example, in India, many home owners pay women to clean their homes especially in big cities. Moreover, in sub-urban area, farmers pay to labours to take care of their fields and domestic animals like cows and bufflaos. Servent responsibilities include providing feed and water to animals, washing them and taking out milk. Furthermore, some people get paid to take care of other's children while their parents stay busy in other jobs. For example, Nanies in India take care of children as they are professionally trained to perform the duties related to handling childs.

On the other hand, individuals should fulfill these tasks themselves if they have enuogh time. Considering others in completing household activities contributes in supporting them financillay. However, giving responsibility of one's child to others leads to weaken relationship between parents and children.

In conclusion, Although hiring others for completing regular household chores plays a vital role in providing work to others, individulas should not reward others to take care of their children in order to maintain their strong bond by spending time with them.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you support paid help as a source of employment, while arguing that parents should personally care for their children when possible. You address both questions and give relevant examples, including household workers and childcare in India. However, the discussion is uneven. The employment benefit is illustrated in detail, but the second question receives only a brief qualification: you say people should do chores themselves if they have enough time, without explaining which tasks or why. The concern about weakening parent-child relationships is relevant, but would be stronger with a developed explanation or example. Clarifying how you balance convenience, employment, and family responsibilities would make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph explaining employment benefits, a contrasting paragraph about personal responsibility, and a conclusion. Sequencing within the main supporting paragraph is generally logical, and signposts such as “To begin with,” “Moreover,” and “On the other hand” help readers follow the discussion. This already gives the essay a coherent progression. However, some linking is mechanical, particularly the repeated use of “For example” and “Furthermore,” and the second body paragraph moves quickly from having enough time to the effect of childcare on family bonds. Develop that relationship with a clearer transition and explanation. Also ensure that references such as “these tasks” and “others” point unmistakably to the intended activities or people.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of vocabulary for domestic work and employment, including “routine tasks,” “financially,” “responsibilities,” and “maintain their strong bond.” These choices communicate the main ideas, and examples such as cleaning, cooking, and childcare keep the language specific to the topic. However, several inaccurate word forms, spellings, and collocations reduce precision: “benefical,” “bufflaos,” “Servent,” and “handling childs” are noticeable, while “take assistance” and “reward others” are not natural choices in these contexts. Some wording is also repetitive, especially “household tasks/activities.” Aim for accurate, natural combinations and vary expressions for paid domestic work and caring responsibilities.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional structure in “individuals should fulfill these tasks themselves if they have enough time” and a subordinate clause beginning “while their parents stay busy.” The overall meaning is usually understandable, but some errors in agreement, articles, plurals, and sentence construction remain. For instance, “taking help in routine tasks provide opportunities” has a singular subject with a plural verb, and “in sub-urban area” needs a determiner or plural form. “Leads to weaken relationship” also uses an incorrect grammatical pattern; use “can weaken the relationship.” Review sentence boundaries and punctuation in the conclusion, where “Although” is capitalised after a comma. More consistently accurate complex sentences would improve control.
