Should people do these things themselves?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

For someone who is leading a hectic life having someone to do their chores is good to a great extend. This also create jobs for someone who is in need.

I consider this as a convinient way to provide work for others. For those who are not able to work a full-time job or who are struggling to make ends meet, this could be a great help. These kind of flexible jobs are good for them. For example, parents who are working full-time who does not have someone to take care of their kids can hire a person to look after their kids. This will help the parents to attain a better financial stability and give their kids a better life. Apart from that, parents will get quality time to spend with their kids after work now as they do not have to deal with holdhold chores after work. On the other hand, the person who get hired get an opprtunity to earn and lead a good life.

Individuals who lack proper education or struggling to find a job will get benefited from jobs like these. Rest of jobs might need certain level of skills, education and experience. If we consider jobs such as; baby sitting, cleaning or cooking. These are those things everybody does daily. So it is not a big deal for someone to find a job like this.

Taking care of their kids and doing household duties are the responsiblity of an individual. But depending on the situation I would say it can be delegated to someone else. If this helps them to lead a better life.

To conclude, paying somebody to do jobs like household and baby sitting is a postive thought. Rather than trying to overwork themselves and ending up with stress. These jobs will help someone else to take care of their families too.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both questions: you explain that hiring help can create flexible work, and you acknowledge that childcare and household duties are an individual’s responsibility while arguing they may be delegated. Your position is generally clear, especially in the conclusion that paying someone is a “positive thought.” Relevant examples, such as working parents hiring a caregiver and people with limited education finding work, support your view. However, the second question receives less development: the point about personal responsibility is brief and does not explain when people should do these tasks themselves or why. Some claims, such as these jobs being easy to find because “everybody does” the tasks, also need qualification. Develop both sides more evenly and explain your reasoning in greater depth.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, paragraphs explaining employment benefits, a paragraph on personal responsibility, and a conclusion. Linking phrases such as “For example,” “Apart from that,” and “On the other hand” help show relationships between ideas. The progression is generally understandable, but some connections are mechanical or unclear. For instance, “On the other hand” introduces another benefit rather than a contrasting point, and “If this helps them to lead a better life” is left as a fragment, weakening the link to the preceding sentence. The paragraph about people with limited education also repeats the employment argument without clearly advancing it. Use transitions that accurately signal the relationship and make each paragraph develop a distinct point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of vocabulary for the topic, including “hectic life,” “flexible jobs,” “financial stability,” and “quality time.” These expressions help communicate the main ideas, and the reader can generally understand your meaning. However, several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors reduce precision: “to a great extend,” “convinient,” “holdhold,” “opprtunity,” and “postive.” Some phrases are also awkward, such as “attain a better financial stability” and “get benefited.” Aim for more natural combinations and check spelling carefully. You could also vary repeated general terms such as “jobs” and “good life” with more precise language about paid care work, household services, income, or employment opportunities.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a conditional structure in “If this helps them to lead a better life” and relative clauses such as “who are struggling to make ends meet.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors occur in agreement, sentence construction, and clause formation. For example, “These kind of flexible jobs” needs plural agreement, while “parents … who does not have” has a subject–verb agreement error. “If this helps them to lead a better life” is an incomplete sentence, and “Rather than trying to overwork themselves and ending up with stress” is also a fragment. Check that each sentence has a complete main clause, and review agreement and verb forms when using longer sentences.
