Student answer (Band 6.0)

In today's world, sometimes people choose to pay others to do work that either they do not have time to do or they do not want to do, for examples household chores or looking after children. Therefore, this essay will elaborate on that is this a good way of providing work for others and should people do these things themselves.

I think pay people to do work for you is a good way to provide work. As such, people nowadays have no time to do any additional work because life has become busy and everyone in the household has a job. People get mentally strained from stress which results in having no energy to do anything at home except sleep and eat. For example, people pay cleaners to clean their house because they are busy with their appoinments, work and personal life. Thus, those who really need job to accomodate themselves, benefit from this where they get to make money and afford things. Also, nanny benefits as well because I saw a young nanny taking care of achil whose mother is sick and not able to fully give time to her child because of appointments.

However, I think that people should assign others to do household chores only but not assign anyone to look after their children. Cleaners household chores helps people to spend time with family and allows them to do some activitiy with their family and children and not stress after getting home from work. This helps in not having mental breakdown. For example, everybody works in a family and no one has time to do chores and they appoint someone and this initiative helps family to not worry about chores but also allows them to enjoy coming home from work.

To conclude, I think it is really fair to pay others to do household chores and not doing yourself. Other people benefit from this act such as cleaners and nanny where they are ableto earn and afford a living. However, i think that assigning cleaners for household chores is beneficial but not having nanny to look after the children because i believe children needs their family to look after them.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both questions and maintain a clear position: paying for household chores can provide useful work, while childcare should remain a family responsibility. The examples of cleaners and a nanny caring for a child whose mother is ill are relevant, and the conclusion restates your view. However, the two parts are not developed equally. You explain why cleaners help busy families, but the case against employing a nanny is asserted mainly through the belief that children need family care; explain more fully why this matters and whether there are circumstances in which paid childcare could help. The opening also promises to discuss both questions rather than presenting your answer directly. More balanced explanation and specific support would make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting different aspects of your view, and a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “For example,” “Thus,” and “However” help signal examples and contrast, and the overall progression is understandable. At times, though, connections are mechanical or unclear. The first body paragraph moves from busy lifestyles to employment benefits and then to the nanny example without clearly explaining how each point supports the main claim. Phrases such as “this initiative” and “this act” have vague references, while the second paragraph repeats the idea that chores reduce stress. Group related points more tightly, clarify what pronouns refer to, and use transitions to show the relationship between reasons rather than simply marking them.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough vocabulary to discuss employment, family responsibilities, and stress, including phrases such as “mentally strained,” “personal life,” and “afford a living.” The meaning is generally clear, and there are attempts to use topic-specific terms such as “cleaners” and “nanny.” However, several word-choice, collocation, and spelling problems reduce precision: “appoinments” and “accomodate” are misspelled, “assign others to do household chores” is awkward, and “nanny benefits” does not clearly express the intended idea. Some wording is also repetitive, particularly “household chores” and “people.” Build a wider set of natural collocations for paid domestic work and childcare, and check spelling and word forms carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, using clauses with “because,” “which,” and “but,” and most of your meaning remains understandable. Some grammatical errors occur, however, in sentence construction, agreement, and verb forms. For example, “I think pay people to do work for you is a good way” needs a grammatical subject and infinitive structure, while “Cleaners household chores helps people” has unclear sentence structure and agreement. In “children needs their family,” the plural subject requires a plural verb. There are also issues with articles and punctuation, including inconsistent capitalisation of “I.” Practise building accurate sentences around one main clause, then add subordinate clauses; proofreading for agreement and sentence boundaries would improve control.
