IELTS Writing Task 2 question

It is sometimes possible to pay somebody to do things you don't want to do, or don't have time to do, for example, household chores or looking after children.

Is this a good way of providing work for others?

Should people do these things themselves?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 5.5)

As we know the world is growing very fastly in last some years. This growth creates many jobs and similarly dismiss many career's. Nowadays every person has some individual to fo their house chores.

First we talk about why someone is important or required for these purposes. It's because the people's are became more career oriented than few years back. Also the hike in prices of everything force the People's which includes both parents to work in order to afford every expenses.

If the earning coming more by working as compared to giving to person to whom you hire for baby look after or house chores, then it's a good option. But if the earning is only enough to give the money against all these expenses, then I think it would be a bad option. As we know that the best caretaker of the children are there parent's only. So, the look after of children should be the first option of the parent's. The career is on the second because the good career cannot give your child a good base in childhood.

Also, I believe that this thing is positive in a way that you are providing a work or an employment to the person who is needy and good in it. It helps someone in running their house expenses. Moreover it helps people in getting connected with someone if they are lonely.

According to me, the both thing's are good and totally depends on different options but the people should take decision on the basis of their requirements and needs.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both questions: you say that hiring help can create employment, and you consider whether parents should care for their children themselves. Your position is that the choice depends on people’s needs, with children’s care given priority. These are relevant ideas, but some are more fully explained than others. For example, the point that paid help supports someone’s household expenses is clear, while the claim that it connects lonely people is introduced without an example or explanation. The discussion of parents’ careers and children’s upbringing could also be balanced more carefully, since it suggests a choice between the two without considering how paid childcare may allow parents to meet both responsibilities. Develop each main reason with a specific example and make your final position more decisive.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, moving from an introduction to reasons for hiring help, a discussion of childcare, and a concluding opinion. Paragraph breaks help distinguish these stages, and phrases such as “Also” and “Moreover” signal additions. However, progression within the argument is sometimes unclear: the paragraph beginning “If the earning coming more” shifts from costs to parental care without a clear link, and the conclusion that “both things are good” does not fully resolve the earlier preference for parents to care for children. Some linking phrases are repetitive or mechanical. To improve, organise the body around one clear point per paragraph, use pronouns with clear references, and add transitions that show whether you are contrasting, explaining, or concluding.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “career oriented,” “employment,” “caretaker,” and “expenses,” and the reader can generally understand your main points. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the meaning less natural—for example, “baby look after,” “running their house expenses,” and “the hike in prices of everything.” There are also spelling and word-form problems such as “fastly,” “career’s,” and “fo.” Aim to learn common topic phrases as complete units, such as “look after children,” “household expenses,” and “rising prices.” Check spelling and apostrophes carefully, and choose precise terms rather than repeating broad words such as “things” and “good.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including conditional structures such as “If the earning coming more … then it’s a good option” and a reason clause beginning “It’s because…”. This shows an effort to express relationships between ideas, but control is inconsistent. For instance, “the people’s are became” has problems with subject–verb agreement and verb form, while “the best caretaker … are there parent’s” contains agreement and plural errors. Articles and sentence construction also need attention in phrases such as “in last some years” and “the look after of children.” These errors sometimes make the reader pause, although the overall message remains understandable. Practise accurate present and past verb forms, singular/plural agreement, and complete conditional patterns, then proofread each sentence for articles and punctuation.
