Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three required points: you request a six-month extension, explain that a new job has changed your plans, and report that the lock is difficult to open. The request is clear, and the job and family context make the change understandable. The explanation of why you want to remain is less focused, however: the list of nearby facilities and comments about Montreal take space without strongly supporting the request. The maintenance issue is also understandable but the requested action is phrased unclearly. To strengthen the letter, develop the practical reason for staying and make a direct, polite request for the owner to arrange a repair.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The ideas are generally relevant and can be followed, with a recognisable sequence from the extension request to your reasons and then the apartment problem. However, the response is presented as one long paragraph, so the separate purposes of the letter are not clearly signposted. Some linking phrases, including “Besides,” “Moreover,” and “Nevertheless,” feel mechanical or do not express the relationship between ideas precisely. The details about local facilities and Montreal also interrupt the progression from your new job to your request. Use separate paragraphs for the extension and explanation, the repair issue, and the closing; choose fewer, more precise transitions to make the progression smoother.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range for the situation, including “extend my stay,” “safety advisor,” “maintenance,” and “cultural and political diversity.” These choices communicate the main points, and you attempt some less common vocabulary. However, several spelling errors—such as “appartment,” “sucessfully,” “Moereover,” and “supermakets”—reduce accuracy. Some expressions are also unnatural or imprecise: “the contract end” and “a professional intervention by a professional” do not express the intended meaning idiomatically. Aim for accurate spelling and natural collocations, especially when making the request, so that your vocabulary sounds clear and appropriately formal.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, and the main message is usually understandable. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly with verb forms and sentence construction. For example, “The contract end” needs a correctly inflected verb, while “I look for an extension” does not use the appropriate verb form for a polite request. The sentence beginning “If you can do…” is incomplete and does not clearly state the action you want the owner to take. There are also punctuation and spacing problems around commas and full stops. Practise forming complete, direct request sentences and check verb agreement and tense; this will make the letter more controlled without losing its range.
