Five months ago, you started renting an apartment on a six-month agreement. You now wish to stay in the apartment for longer than the six months you originally agreed with the owner.

Write a letter to the owner of your apartment. In your letter

• say how long you now want to rent the apartment for
• explain why your plans have changed
• tell the owner about a problem in the apartment

Dear Mr. Singh

I am writing regarding the apartment at 12405 Surrey Central, which I rented five months ago on a six month agreement.

I was willing to extent my lease for another six months, because I do not want to move anywhere else as you know I don't have a car so I get skytrain to go at my work and the station is just five minutes walk away from me that's why it saves me a plenty of time to get at the work. Although my university is near and I don't feel to pack my bags and move to new location as this apartment is perfect for me and moving is going to bring a lot of stress for myself. While I am happy to continue, I would like to bring a small issue to your attention the dishwasher has stop working yesterday and the water heater in the bathroom has been making a loud noise also the water take very long time to heat up. I would be grateful if you could arrange for someone to check it at your convenience.

Could you please let me know if the extension is possible and under what terms?
