Student answer (Band 7.0)
Dear Sir,
I hope you are doing well, I am writing for the further expand of six month agreement of apartment.
I am living in your apartment for five months and i have spent great time here. At the time of agreement i was not sure about facilities near this place that's why i agreed on a six month agreement. Currently my office is at walking distance from the apartment which eventually leads to low transport expenditure.
In addition our nieghbours are so friendly and cooperative due to which my partner and i feel secure. All neccesory facilities are like hospitals, schools, colleges, mosque and departmental stores are few km away from home. Due to all reasons i mentioned above i had changed my mind and decided to renew agreement for a longer period. I would like to meet you in person to discuss further procedure.
Sadly, There is a issue i want to address from many days that our cleaning staff is not working properly. The rubbish collecting man has been absent from several days. This has been a hygiene problem for us, kindly take prompt notice.
Thankyou for your time and consideration.
Yours Faithfully.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You clearly stated your intention to extend the rental agreement, provided a logical explanation regarding your office location and the convenience of the area, and raised a specific complaint about the cleaning staff. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a landlord. To improve, ensure you specify the exact duration of the extension (e.g., 'six more months') rather than just 'longer period' to fully satisfy the requirement of saying how long you want to rent the apartment for.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, with each focusing on a specific aspect of the task. You use some cohesive devices such as 'In addition' and 'Due to all reasons', which help the flow of ideas. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive. The referencing is generally clear, though the connection between sentences could be smoother in the second paragraph. Overall, the progression of ideas is easy to follow, and the structure is appropriate for a formal correspondence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'expenditure', 'cooperative', and 'consideration'. There are some minor errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'further expand' (should be 'extension'), 'nieghbours' (spelling), and 'neccesory' (spelling). Additionally, 'rubbish collecting man' is a bit informal; 'waste management service' or 'cleaning staff' would be more precise. While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the score from reaching a higher band. Focusing on accurate collocations will help improve your precision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is good. However, there are several grammatical slips, such as 'I am writing for the further expand of six month agreement' (should be 'to request an extension of my six-month agreement') and 'I had changed my mind' (should be 'I have changed my mind'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some issues with comma splices and capitalization. Despite these errors, the meaning remains clear throughout the letter, and the grammar does not significantly hinder the reader's understanding.
