Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: stating the desired length of the extension, explaining the change in plans, and reporting the heating issue. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a landlord. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For example, the explanation regarding your parents' visit could be more detailed to better justify the need for a two-year extension. Despite this, the purpose of the letter is clear, and the reader is fully informed of your requirements and the maintenance issue.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter follows a logical structure with clear paragraphing. Each paragraph focuses on a specific aspect of the task, which helps the reader follow your train of thought. You use some cohesive devices like 'Moreover' and 'However' to link ideas. To improve, try to vary your transition words further and ensure that referencing is precise. For instance, in the second paragraph, the transition between the apartment's location and your parents' visit could be smoother to create a more cohesive narrative flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly. Phrases like 'extending the lease agreement' and 'greatly appreciated' are appropriate for this context. However, there are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'its feels home' (should be 'it feels like home') and 'appropriate according to the weather condition'. Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise descriptive terms would help elevate your score. Overall, the vocabulary is sufficient to communicate your needs without causing confusion.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'my parents wants' instead of 'my parents want') and article usage (e.g., 'in last winters'). Additionally, there are some punctuation and run-on sentence issues, such as 'So kindly try to fix the issue. It would be greatly appreciated.' Improving your control over basic grammatical rules and sentence boundaries will significantly enhance the quality of your writing.
