IELTS Writing Task 1 question

Five months ago, you started renting an apartment on a six-month agreement. You now wish to stay in the apartment for longer than the six months you originally agreed with the owner.

Write a letter to the owner of your apartment. In your letter

• say how long you now want to rent the apartment for
• explain why your plans have changed
• tell the owner about a problem in the apartment

You do NOT need to write any addresses.

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to ask if I can continue renting my apprtment after my current six month agreement ends. I would like to stay in the apartment for another six months.

When I signed the agreement I was planning to move another city after six months. However, my plans have changed because I have found a new job near my apartment. I am happy with my current location and it is very convenient for my work. Therefore, I would like to stay here for a long period.

There is also a small problem in the apartment that I would like to fix. The bathroom tap has been leaking for the last two weeks. I have tried to close it properly, but is still leaks. It is also making a small noise at night.

Could you please arrange for someone to repair the tap? I would be grateful if you could also let me know whether I can extend my rental agreement?
