IELTS Writing Task 1 question

Five months ago, you started renting an apartment on a six-month agreement. You now wish to stay in the apartment for longer than the six months you originally agreed with the owner.

Write a letter to the owner of your apartment. In your letter

• say how long you now want to rent the apartment for
• explain why your plans have changed
• tell the owner about a problem in the apartment

You do NOT need to write any addresses.

Dear Griffin,

I am writing this letter to inform you that I want to extend my 6 month lease for the apartment I am leaving in for another 12 months till 10th August, 2027. I started my lease on 1st April, 2026 for six-month agreement as I had to move to another city after my studies but my plans have changed so I want to extend my agreement.

Initially, I was planning to move out to different city for my job after completing my studies but now I got my field job here in the town so I changed my mind to settle somewhere else. Moreover, I love this apartment very much as it is sufficient for me and closer to my job location and the main market which saves me from commuting to long distance. Also, this place is very quite and I have lovely neighbours.

I am very satisfied with this unit except one which is tap in my bathroom. From last 15 days I am experiencing heavy leakage of hot water from the tab which is making my washroom very hot. It would be great if you can send pluming service to fix it as it is creating lots of trouble for me. I hope to hear from you soon regarding same.
