Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the development of the required points. While you addressed the three bullet points—stating the desired extension, explaining the change in plans, and mentioning the water issue—the ideas are underdeveloped and lack the necessary detail to fully satisfy the task. The tone is inconsistent, and the letter structure is incomplete, lacking a formal closing. To improve, you must expand on your reasons for staying and provide more context regarding the apartment problem to ensure the letter is sufficiently detailed and professional.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The letter lacks a clear logical progression. The sentences are somewhat disjointed, and the use of cohesive devices is minimal or inaccurate, such as the abrupt transition between the reason for staying and the mention of the apartment problems. Paragraphing is not effectively used to separate the different points of the letter. To improve, you should use linking words like 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'however' to connect your ideas more smoothly and ensure that each paragraph focuses on a single, well-developed point.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive, relying on basic structures. Phrases like 'makes my life bit easily' and 'easily way' are grammatically incorrect and demonstrate a lack of control over word choice and collocation. There is little attempt to use more sophisticated or precise language suitable for a formal request. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more varied vocabulary, such as 'convenient' instead of 'easily' and 'prolong my tenancy' instead of 'stay in the apartment for longer'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, such as 'I have been live' (should be 'I have been living'), 'makes my life bit easily' (should be 'makes my life a bit easier'), and 'I don't even get late' (should be 'I am not late'). The sentence structures are mostly simple and contain errors that occasionally impede the flow of communication. You need to focus on subject-verb agreement, correct tense usage, and the proper use of adjectives and adverbs to improve the accuracy and complexity of your writing.
