Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: stating the desired extension length, explaining the reason for the change, and reporting the maintenance issues. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter to a landlord. However, the development of ideas is somewhat brief. For instance, while you mention the sink is 'linking' (leaking) and the socket is 'bad', providing a bit more detail or a more formal request for action would have strengthened the response. Overall, the purpose of the letter is clear and the requirements are met.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your points. You use some cohesive devices like 'However' and 'Hence' to connect ideas. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical or slightly misused, such as 'in other for me to make out time'. Additionally, the opening sentence is a bit informal and disjointed. Improving the flow between sentences and ensuring that pronouns clearly refer back to their antecedents would help move your score higher. Overall, the message is easy to follow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message, but there are several instances of inaccurate word choice or spelling errors. For example, you used 'linking' instead of 'leaking', 'checkmate' instead of 'check', and 'in expectant' instead of 'in expectation'. These errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, but they do indicate a need for more precise vocabulary usage. To improve, focus on learning common collocations related to home maintenance and professional correspondence.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

Your writing shows a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'half of year' (should be 'half a year'), 're established' (should be 're-established'), and 'my with me' (unnecessary word). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas and capitalization (e.g., 'i' instead of 'I'). While these errors are frequent, they do not impede communication. To reach a higher band, focus on subject-verb agreement and consistent capitalization.
