Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Owner,
I am writing this letter to inform you that I am renting your apartment under a six-month agreement. But, I changed my mind, so I will stay longer than six months in your apartment.
In your apartment, I was having a good time and making memories which make me feel like my home that is the main reason i will stay longer in this apartment.
Moreover, your apartment near by my office. due to this i save good amount of money. Not only are bus services good but also super market left side of the apartment. but the main reason is its to quite and affordable price.
on the other hand, there is only one issue I faced that was laundry. Because every weekend I go to a laundry shop thus, it wastes my time and money if you provide in laundry room in your apartment its beneficial for me and other people who live in this apartment.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points required by the task: stating the desired extension, explaining the change in plans, and mentioning a maintenance issue. However, the development of these points is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation for why your plans changed is a bit vague, focusing more on the apartment's qualities than a specific life event or change in circumstances. To reach a higher band, ensure your reasons are more clearly articulated and linked to the request. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter, though it could be slightly more polished.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is logically organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your points. You use some cohesive devices like 'Moreover' and 'on the other hand' to transition between ideas. However, the flow is occasionally interrupted by awkward phrasing and punctuation errors, such as the run-on sentences in the second paragraph. The use of referencing is sometimes unclear, which makes the progression of ideas feel a bit mechanical. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring each sentence flows naturally into the next will help improve your score in this area.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your needs clearly. You use some relevant terms like 'agreement', 'affordable', and 'beneficial'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and minor errors, such as 'near by' (should be 'near') and 'its to quite' (should be 'it is too quiet'). To improve, focus on using more precise adjectives and ensuring correct collocations. Expanding your range to include more sophisticated vocabulary related to housing and requests would also be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Issues include incorrect verb tenses ('I was having a good time' instead of 'I have had'), missing articles, and punctuation errors (e.g., 'i' should be capitalized). The sentence 'if you provide in laundry room in your apartment its beneficial' is grammatically fragmented and lacks clarity. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to lower the score. Focus on subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage to improve accuracy.
