Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: you stated the desired extension length, explained the change in your plans regarding your college course, and reported the issue with the Wi-Fi. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a landlord. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For example, the explanation regarding your plans is a bit repetitive and could be more concisely phrased. To reach a higher band, ensure that your explanation flows more naturally and that the request for the extension is clearly linked to your new circumstances. Overall, the task is fully addressed, though the expression of ideas could be more polished.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is generally coherent, and the progression of ideas is logical. You have used basic cohesive devices such as 'so' and 'because', but the connection between sentences is sometimes mechanical. The paragraphing is insufficient; the entire body of the letter is presented as one block of text, which makes it harder to follow. Using clear paragraph breaks for each main point (the extension, the reason, and the problem) would significantly improve the structure. Additionally, some referencing is slightly unclear, such as the transition between your college plans and your decision to stay in the apartment.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly. You use some relevant terms like 'amenities', 'extension', and 'agreement'. However, there are some word choice errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'I successfully get a offer letter' (should be 'received an offer letter') and 'all amenities are enjoying by me' (should be 'I am enjoying all the amenities'). These errors do not impede communication, but they limit the score. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and ensuring that your verb forms are accurate when describing your experiences.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with verb tenses and prepositions. For example, 'I am living in your home from last five months' should be 'I have been living in your home for the last five months'. There are also issues with punctuation, such as missing spaces before commas and inconsistent capitalization. These errors occur throughout the text. While they do not prevent the reader from understanding your intent, they indicate a need for more careful proofreading and a better grasp of tense consistency.
