Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses all three bullet points: the duration of the extension, the reason for the change in plans, and the maintenance issues. However, the tone is inappropriate for a formal letter to a landlord. The opening paragraph is entirely irrelevant, consisting of memorized, generic phrases that do not relate to the task. The development of ideas is hindered by the lack of formal structure and the inclusion of this 'filler' text. To improve, you should focus on a direct, professional tone suitable for a business correspondence and ensure all content is relevant to the specific request.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The letter lacks proper paragraphing and logical progression. It is written as a single, long, run-on sentence, which makes it difficult to follow. There is a lack of cohesive devices; instead, the text relies heavily on the repetitive use of 'because' and 'and' to link clauses. This creates a mechanical and disjointed flow. To achieve a higher score, you must organize your ideas into distinct paragraphs (e.g., one for the request, one for the explanation, and one for the maintenance issues) and use a wider variety of linking words such as 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'however'.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.5

The vocabulary is very limited and repetitive. Phrases like 'my plan have become changed' and 'grow own agreement' are unnatural and indicate a lack of control over collocations. The use of 'fleck of doubt' and 'contemporary epoch' is highly inappropriate for this context, as these are academic clichés that do not fit a letter to a landlord. You need to focus on using standard, functional language for letter writing, such as 'extend my lease', 'contract', 'maintenance', and 'urgent repairs'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The grammar is significantly flawed, with frequent errors in verb tense, subject-verb agreement, and sentence structure. Examples include 'I did agreement', 'my plan have become changed', and 'I want grow own agreement'. The entire response is essentially one long, unpunctuated sentence, which severely impacts readability. There is no evidence of complex sentence structures used correctly. You should focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring that each sentence has a clear subject and verb, and practicing the correct use of past and present tenses.
