IELTS Writing Task 1 question

Five months ago, you started renting an apartment on a six-month agreement. You now wish to stay in the apartment for longer than the six months you originally agreed with the owner.

Write a letter to the owner of your apartment. In your letter

• say how long you now want to rent the apartment for
• explain why your plans have changed
• tell the owner about a problem in the apartment

Dear Mr John,

I am writing to express my desire to extend my current lease agreement for the apartment 9b at Mayfair hall. As my current agreement is coming to an conclusion next month, I would like to extend the agreement for additional 12 month until September 2027.

My circumstance have changed recently as my employer has offered me a promotion in a better position combined with a long term job offer. Therefore I am not moving out of the city for now. This apartment is in a convenient location to access public transport that I use as my regular commute. Also I have enjoyed living in this property and the atmosphere of this multicultural neighborhood.

On a separate note, I would like to bring a minor maintenance issue in your attention. Over the past week the kitchen sink has developed a minor leak under the sink-pipe joint. While it is manageable now by putting a basket under the pipe, I am concerned that it may cause damage to the surrounding cabinets of the kitchen.

Please let me know if an extension is agreeable to you and if there is any updated paper works to complete. I would also appreciate if you could arrange a plumber to resolve the leaking issue at your earliest convenience.
