Dear john,

I am so glad to writing this letter to you that i want to increase the lease agreement with you that i signed five months ago with you. I wish to expand it for at least one year instead of six months .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: stating the desired extension length, explaining the change in plans, and reporting the maintenance issues. The tone is generally appropriate for a letter to a landlord. However, the development of ideas is somewhat basic. For instance, the explanation regarding the job and the description of the maintenance issues could be more clearly articulated to ensure the reader fully understands the urgency. While the task requirements are met, the response would benefit from more precise language to better convey your intentions and ensure the landlord understands the specific nature of the repairs needed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your points. You use some basic cohesive devices like 'Moreover' and 'Secondly' to transition between ideas. However, the flow is occasionally interrupted by awkward phrasing and minor errors in sentence structure, such as 'I am so glad to writing this letter'. The use of referencing is sometimes unclear, and the connection between sentences could be smoother. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus that transitions naturally to the next.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your needs effectively. You use some relevant terms like 'lease agreement', 'permanent job', and 'pests control'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'expand it' instead of 'extend it', 'have loose' instead of 'are loose', and 'drip a water'. These errors do not prevent understanding, but they do limit the precision of your writing. Expanding your range of collocations and practicing common phrasal verbs related to housing would help elevate your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there is a high frequency of grammatical errors. Common issues include incorrect verb forms ('I am so glad to writing'), subject-verb agreement ('taps have loose'), and awkward phrasing ('I hope you get agree'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before commas and periods. While your meaning is generally clear, the number of errors is significant enough to distract the reader. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like verb tense consistency would significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
