Dear Landlord,

Hope you are doing well, Yesterday , I talked with my family about my future plans. today, I would like to inform you that i am planning to stay in your apartment for next two years. i really love this place .

The main reason why i changed my plan to stay here instead of six months because i got really very good job in another organization at really fantastic package, so thats why i want to increase my rental aggriment for 2 years. secondly, i really like the location of this apartment because its in the middle of the town, everything thing is easy to access.

one more thing that i want you to pay attention, the geaser of this apartment is not properly working, after one and half month winter is going to be start, it will be really hard for me to manage without hot water as i have to go daily in my office.

Waiting for your responce.

yours faithfully,

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The candidate has successfully covered all bullet points outlined in the task instructions. First, the desired rental duration of two years is clearly stated. Second, the reason for changing plans is adequately explained, noting a new job opportunity with a fantastic package. Third, a specific apartment problem regarding the broken geyser and the upcoming winter season is effectively communicated. The tone is appropriate for a semi-formal letter to a landlord. Although some ideas like the location are additional, all core requirements of the prompt are addressed satisfactorily. Therefore, this response meets the criteria for Band 6.5, rounded to 6.0 as some parts of the explanation remain slightly basic and under-developed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter maintains a coherent overall arrangement with a clear purpose established in the opening paragraphs. However, paragraphing is somewhat irregular and chaotic, with abrupt breaks and uneven spacing between sections. While basic cohesive devices such as 'secondly' and 'so thats why' are utilised, referencing and transitional phrases can occasionally be mechanical or repetitive. The layout includes appropriate salutations and sign-offs, but the internal logical flow suffers from run-on sentences and punctuation slips. Overall, the organisation shows clear intent and meets the requirements of Band 6, where cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The candidate demonstrates an adequate vocabulary range for the task, attempting less common phrases such as 'rental aggriment' and 'fantastic package'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including 'aggriment', 'geaser', and 'responce'. The repetition of intensifiers like 'really' (used four times) restricts lexical variety. While these inaccuracies and spelling slips do not impede overall communication, they prevent the writing from achieving a higher score. The lexical resource is best evaluated at Band 6, providing a minimally sufficient range of vocabulary for the prompt requirements.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating a reasonable attempt at structuring longer thoughts, such as in the sentence explaining the job change. However, there are frequent grammatical and punctuation errors, including comma splices ('Yesterday , I talked with my family...', '...everything thing is easy to access.'), missing capitalization for the pronoun 'i', and tense or preposition slips ('go daily in my office'). Despite these recurring errors, they rarely impede communication, as the intended meaning remains clear to the reader. This performance aligns well with the Band 6 descriptor for grammatical range and accuracy.
