Five months ago, you started renting an apartment on a six-month agreement. You now wish to stay in the apartment for longer than the six months you originally agreed with the owner.

Write a letter to the owner of your apartment. In your letter

• say how long you now want to rent the apartment for
• explain why your plans have changed
• tell the owner about a problem in the apartment

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to request you to increase the tenure of current lease of apartment 2407 Le Chatel building.

The current contract of our apartment is from September 2026 to February 2027 which I would like to change to one year lease contract. So, I want it to be till September next year.

Firstly, I have recently enrolled in a finance course at Concordia University which is a 8 months course. In order to have a place to live till that time, I need some space and I am already used to this apartment that I can not think of living somewhere else. Hence, I am requesting to change the tenure of the lease agreement.

Secondly, there is some water leakage issue in my current apartment which I want you to address on immediate basis. The kitchen's wash basin is always having tap water leakage which makes is difficult to sleep at night due to the sound. I request you to fix this as soon as possible.
