Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response attempts to cover all parts of the prompt, including the desired length of stay, reasons for changing plans, and a problem in the apartment. However, the delivery of these points is confused and contradictory. In the first paragraph, you mention wanting to stay longer ('want live more this apartment'), but the second paragraph states, 'now I want to live here only one month,' which contradicts the main premise of the task. Furthermore, your explanation regarding your business plans in India is muddled and makes it difficult for the reader to understand your exact intentions. While all bullet points are touched upon, the lack of clarity and contradictory statements prevent this from reaching a higher band. To improve, ensure your ideas are coherent and directly address the prompt requirements without contradicting yourself.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The letter is broken into several paragraphs, showing a basic attempt at structuring, but the overall progression of ideas is faulty. Transitions between sentences and paragraphs often feel abrupt or illogical, such as the sudden shift from discussing your apartment stay to talking about your friend's IT business in the third paragraph. Cohesive devices are used, but they are frequently inaccurate or misused, such as 'Furthermore' and 'Apart from it.' Paragraphing is attempted, but because the ideas within the paragraphs jump around abruptly, the letter lacks a smooth, logical flow, making it challenging for the reader to follow your narrative.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
Your vocabulary is very basic and repetitive, relying on everyday words like 'want,' 'live,' and 'apartment' (which is also misspelled as 'apertment'). There are several noticeable errors in word choice and word formation, such as 'paramently' instead of permanently, 'distriub' instead of disturb, and 'fousc' instead of focus. These errors and spelling mistakes cause some difficulty for the reader and indicate a limited lexical range suitable only for a lower band. To progress, you need to expand your vocabulary and pay closer attention to word spelling and accurate collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The grammatical range is severely limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences and faulty attempts at complex structures. There are frequent and significant grammatical errors throughout the letter, such as 'change my plan live long time,' 'agreement was just for six months but I promise you I want live more this apartment,' and 'my friend who start their own IT business, and she tell me.' Subject-verb agreement errors, tense confusion, and missing prepositions are common. These persistent errors often impede communication and obscure your intended meaning, meaning the grammar control remains at a lower band level.
