Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses all three bullet points required by the task, but the ideas are limited and under-developed. For instance, the writer states the desire to stay longer and mentions a new job and a noise problem, but these points lack sufficient detail and extension. The tone is somewhat informal and inconsistent for a formal letter to an apartment owner, and the purpose of the letter is only partially fulfilled due to the brevity and lack of clarity in explaining the situation. To improve, the writer needs to expand on each bullet point with more relevant information and maintain an appropriate tone throughout the correspondence.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is some organisation in the letter, but it lacks a clear overall progression and logical paragraphing. The text is written as one large block with no clear separation of ideas, and transitions between points are abrupt. Cohesive devices are minimal, repetitive, or inaccurate, such as starting multiple sentences with 'I' or relying heavily on basic linkers. Referencing is sometimes unclear, which makes it harder for the reader to follow the flow of information. To reach a higher level, the writer should group related ideas into distinct paragraphs and use a wider variety of cohesive devices to connect sentences and paragraphs more smoothly.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task, featuring basic and repetitive words such as 'want', 'live', 'job', and 'problem'. There are several noticeable errors in word choice, word form, and spelling, such as 'apartement', 'hor' instead of 'our' or 'a', 'to' instead of 'ti', 'neighbhourhood', 'acrion', 'appericate', 'foucs', and 'loss' instead of 'lose'. These lexical inaccuracies and spelling errors sometimes cause strain for the reader. To improve, the writer must expand their vocabulary range, practice correct word forms, and pay closer attention to spelling during proofreading.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The text relies on a very limited range of sentence structures, mostly consisting of simple sentences. Attempts at more complex structures or conditionals, such as 'if you take acrion against i would rely appericate it', are faulty and incomplete. There are frequent errors in grammar, punctuation, and capitalization, including lowercase 'i', missing articles, incorrect prepositions, and verb tense errors like 'Lack of sleeping creating'. These errors cause frequent difficulty for the reader. To achieve a higher score, the writer should practice forming accurate complex sentences and improve control over basic grammatical rules, punctuation, and capitalization.
