Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, containing only 123 words. Consequently, the bullet points are only partially addressed. While the writer states how long they want to rent the apartment for until January 2026 and touches on why plans have changed regarding a new job, the third bullet point regarding a problem in the apartment is completely omitted. This severely restricts the development of the task and keeps the response at a very limited level of achievement.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some basic organisation with paragraph breaks, but the overall progression of ideas lacks clarity. Cohesive devices are repetitive and sometimes inaccurate, such as using 'so' repeatedly to link sentences like 'so, anywhere we can go by walk' and 'so, we change our plan'. Referencing can also be unclear, and paragraphing is not fully effective for structuring the letter logically, resulting in mechanical connections between thoughts.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate to convey basic messages. There are noticeable lexical errors and awkward word choices, such as 'convinent' instead of convenient, 'daily necessary thing' instead of daily necessities, and 'by walk' instead of on foot. These errors stem from issues with word form and spelling, which occasionally cause some difficulty for the reader, though basic communication of the main idea is still achieved.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer uses a very limited range of sentence structures, relying mostly on simple sentences with frequent attempts at basic coordination. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues like 'letter find you well' and 'house feel like', incorrect verb tenses such as 'we have decide', and missing articles. These errors can cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect a weak control over basic grammatical structures.
